Eclectic Guitars, Glasgow - Closing down TODAY!

Post by UlricvonCatalyst »

Hi folks,

My mate and I have taken a unit in The Square Yard at the Barras (in Stevenson St. opposite the Squirrel Bar) trading as Eclectic Guitars.

We're open 10-4 Saturdays and Sundays, so if you're in Glasgow swing by to check out our (growing) range of lawsuit Les Pauls, Jap Strats, Teiscos and Offsets.

Our aim is to offer a better class of cheap guitar at less-than-eBay prices. Trade-ins are very welcome, so don't come empty-handed if you have guitars or pedals etc. you're not using.

Awesome. I'd quite like to try and check this out if I get a chance. Work most weekends, but I'll try and come. Sounds very cool.

This sounds like my idea of guitar store heaven. Ditto on the website thing, and if you can do postal then I for one will be interested in picking something quirky up in the future.

Great stuff.

Wow - huge response, thanks for all the interest.

My neighbour suggested doing a Facebook page as she said she checks out a few vintage shops every week to see what their new stock is. We'll probably go with that rather than a website (eventually). We just started last weekend and haven't exactly got guitars piled up to the ceiling, but the hope is we'll get established and people will start bringing stuff to us.

you could also offer to sell stuff on commission, saves you from shelling out & gets stock in.

facebook only will also stop you being found by most good search engines. a simple page shouldn't be to hard to muster

Went looking for this the other day. There was a place where described that had loads of units with little indie businesses in it. No guitar shop tho and no-one in there had ever heard of it.

There was a smaller building right next to it but it was totally boarded up and looked kinda abandonned... Possibly it's in there and just wasn't oper.

If you're still open do you have set opening times?

Buy yourself a Mr Site bundle from Amazon: all your web needs for the year sorted out for about £30. Post up a stocklist as well, eh?

Excellent idea for a guitar shop though.

Was once a similar place in Cardiff down on the Broadway. No hassel to just walk in there with existing equipment and trade for other stuff. Wall to wall with amps, pedals and old guitars :D Then some pillock took over the place, moved it up the street to a bigger premises and started selling allsorts -- went bust soon after.
