Question for the Line 6 posse

Can you get a CE-2 sound on the Chorus settings?

I've been after one for some time but dont to pay the inflated "its a MIJ black label.." prices. So i was wondering if the Space Chorus module for the Tonecore series would be a cheap option. Youtube demo's dont really cover that ground..

I don't know if they compare to these Boss pedals but the chorus pedals for the old Ibanez 10 or Master series sound really good and tend to go for cheap on ebay due to the fact they look like the dashboard of a Nissan from the 80's.

That'd be great mate as i'm presuming the Tonecore module is very similar if not identical.

Just as a heads up, this is the kind of thang im trying to get, my Dano Cool Cat is too 'warm' sounding though...

No probs- it'll be without my dulcet tones I'm afraid- the subletter in Ellie's old room has just moved in and I don't want her thinking I'm mental. Yet.

Hope that's of some help, Franno. I used a bit of TUBE DRIVE to warm things up a bit before the signal goes into the chorus.

I can see an M5 on your horizons, sir- I think it'd work amazingly as a modulation-only box.

Thanks Doog. I think the Tri mode is actually closer as it sounds 'thinner', the Analog mode with the tone up full was'nt far away either.
Hmmm...
If i see a Module cheap i think i'll give it a go, be a some time before i go for an M5 though mate

FWIW the "Analog Chorus" on that unit is inspired by the old Boss CE-1, which isn't so far off from the CE-2. Also Fran, if you are a Kitchens of Distinction fan, maybe you can help out with this post over on GG?

Haha, fair enough- sometimes owning the real thing is great for the VIBE it gives off.

By the looks of it, the Space Chorus and M series share the same two choruses?

I believe they do, if you remember the timeframe in which the tone core pedals were put out, all the models were pretty much taken directly from their bigger brothers (in this case the MM-4).

The MM-4 has an "Analog Chorus" like the M-Series, which is probably the "Chorus" for the Space Chorus, they just renamed it to distinguish the Chorus-side from the Vibrato-side with the Tri-Chorus in the middle. That way no one would mistake "Analog" for "Analog Vibrato".

I'd have thought so. The modules sell for nothing on 'bay as well, the Tonecore pedals just seem out-of-fashion, one thing to thank the M series for!

They sound better than the Youtube demos.

This is a hard one. Its like the CE-2 is instantly recognizable but the other stuff is close, but something not quite there. Is it just my ears or what?

Those ToneCore pedals have notoriously bad footswitches. Fran. The M series, on the other hand...

Chorus is a disappointment on the M9. The Chorus sounds that are there can be pretty(the Tri Chorus anyway) but it doesn't quite do the Chorus I wanted. I wish they had a Small Clone and a DOD Mini Chorus, or a proper CE-2.

Since we're discussing chorus--is the CE-3 worth a go if you don't want to spend $100 on a CE-2 or is it vastly inferior?
