NGD - Fret King Esprit 5
Hi all, recently broke my foot and have spent the last month in and out of plaster, so I have saved myself a bit of cash, enough for a new guitar.
Picked this up today, It's like the love child of a Firebird and a Jazzmaster. This is the korean version rather than the made in england one, that said it is built really well, as good if not better than a gibson of similar spec like a LP studio for example.
The pickups are good, my only complaint is that the taper on the tone knob is pretty severe, nothing much happens until you get down to about 3 and then the treble rolls right off, easily replaced though. It has a huge tone which is very bassy.
I am finding the reverse headstock a bit unusual keep on reaching for tuners which aren't there. I really like the recessed jack input, that won't be unscrewing itself in a hurry like my LP.
Group shot, sorry about the crappy pics.

Thanks, I have got some plans for the GS1, thinking about putting a p-rail or a tv jones pick up in there, when I play it acoustic it has a really big mid range/trebly sound which the humbucker doesn't really do justice to.
I am determined that the next guitar I buy will not be an all mahogany guitar! I had my heart set on a tele but came back with a esprit, still worse things that could happen.

Actually, I rather like the look of their Ventura series.
Especially the basses

It's almost the wonky rondo jazzmaster thing.laterallateral wrote:Avtually, I rather like the look of their Ventura series.
