Not sure it that is a cover like we think of a pickup cover - not sure you can remove it - the strings go through the pickup - weird - and funky!

I wouldn't have done it that way, and would prefer tooled leather over WTF that is, but if that's how it came to me, I would probably not change a thing. There are some things in this world you just need to accept gracefully.

says its a lollar supro.
String-through pickups such as the Supro/Valco/National pickups are legends among the realm of guitar pickups. Looking like humbuckers yet in essence are single-coil in design have that much sought-after unique growl. An example of a guitar that had this distinction is the so-called "Coodercaster" (calm down. . . it's named after slide guitarist Ry Cooder. . . HEY CALM DOWN). The Lollar Supro Steel Guitar Pickup packs that sound as the original string-through Supros dictate.

Would look better with a rusting silver barrel knob.

side magnets

Post by twangster »

The magnets are on the sides. The top plate completes the magnetic field. These pickups came on the Supro Ozark guitar. Ry Cooder saw a guy in Mississippi playing one and put one on his Strat. It adds a lot of sustain and is high output. Great for slide.

String through pickups were the very first fender designed pickups for the lapsteel guitars.

Is it really a DuoSonic with one pickup? Shouldn't it be a MonoSonic?
