these kinda guitars are for the collectors not the players......just like the 5 thousand dollar fake wear custom fenders!!!! a real player is gonna find a good deal on the guitar that feels good in his hands and play it for years and give it its own story! these belong in some rich guys guitar case behind his harley davidson that he doesnt drive in his man cave....

Pretty sure Kurt Cobain's real pride and joy was his custom Ferrington Mustang...he treasured it so much he didn't even want to take it on the road for risk of getting banged up.

Is it me or do all left handed offsets look like some kind of sci-fi proton cannon or something.

Also, I decided to listen to Incesticide the other day in honour of this thread. Teh Kurdtz could actually make for some pretty good toanz.

I'm interested in seeing just how detailed the replica is.

As for the Ferrington guitar, I think there is a photo (maybe photos) in this book. I would be interested in seeing some detailed photos of that guitar.

*EDITED FOR PICS AND KURDTZ NERDYNESS* :oops:

I have the Danny Ferrington book, there's not that much about the Kurdtz guitar (loads of interesting guitars though).

I found a pic of Nirvana's guitars/bass's backstage at Reading '92 and the Ferrington guitar is there.

Also, I don't think the Jag was built like that for Kurt, I think it was found like that in a pawn shop/random guitar shop. The duct tape is probably his own though.

And do the Jag replicas have a third strap button? Look at this pic of the original.

While on this subject, I like these Kustzstangz;

Sorry- I'm a terrible Kurdtz kid! I should probably run to that jagstang forum to hide my shame. :oops:

Kurt seemingly didn't buy into the tonewood argument either, the Ferrington guitar was made from basswood.

Are there photos in the Ferrington book?

Also, does anyone else think the incorrect pale-blue/grey colour in the larger photo looks better than the actual sonic blue colour?

@ Narco Martenot
I took a photo of the Danny Ferrington book. Looks like sonic blue to me;

Somebody made a right-handed version and posted pics on Offset.

@ Owen, I bet you can't share them pics :(

Thanks for the photo. I really love this guitar. Some small things I noticed:

-Is it just me, or does that guitar appear to have a Gibson fretboard radius?
-The fretboard overhang -- I don't think I've seen a shortscale Fender with this?
-Look at the sloppy position of the screws around the pickguard -- some of them seem to be almost hanging over the bevelled edges, one of them actually is

How much do you think Kurt was charged for that guitar? Where is this guitar now?

I've seen the Cross project before -- a really cool guitar with a much nicer looking pickguard than the original.

it does, from a technical point of view. Mixing overly saturated colours that don't make a good harmony tends to make for an unsettling look. That said I'm not fond of the shades of blue most Fenders tend to be.

it is just you unless the guitar also appears to have a gibson tune-o-matic, then it's not just you.

Look at the frets -- they look nearly flat.
