FREE black international track, first official release.

Post by stewart »

hey folks, thought you might be interesed in a wee freebie- it's a demo of a song of ours called dead languages from 2008 that's been included on a monthly EP put together by a scottish music blogger. the EPs tend to feature unreleased songs, demos, live tracks etc and are a nice gentle way of being introduced to new bands, i find.

some of you might have an older version of the track already, but it's been newly mastered and sounds a bit better. this will most likely be the only time it'll be available, so have away-

...and the other stuff on the EP is good too, so have a listen.

DIG IT, MAAAAN!

Love the echo chamber delay in the intro guitar, dead creepy.

Yeah, they're pretty classy. ESFTD have a bit of a mary chain/shop assistants/shoegazey vibe going on, probably be quite popular round these here parts.

Cheers for listening carlos!

Sounds great, stewart. Don't want to echo (oh, come on, seriously?) Doog's comments, so I love the post-intro direct-sounding guitar and distorted-yet-dry urgency of the vocals.

I also hadn't yet commented on the other recent BI stuff, but if I can add my humble opinion, it's fuckin' great.

EDIT: I also just now finished listening to the other tracks. I would be honored to play with any one of those bands, as they are all fantastic.

cheers guys.

avj- very kind of you, and you're almost spot on about the guitar sound; it was done in a bedroom using one of those little vox modelling amps and *cough* a DS-1, i think it may be a mixture of close mic'ing and line out. we were going for a very trashy sound!

Yes! One of my absolute favorite guitar sounds is a simple Pathfinder 10 that sounds amazing in a particular bathroom when super-close-mic'd with a simple SM57. Sometimes that really-direct, center-panned, no-reverb guitar is the sound, and I think it suits this song really well.

Does this track feature Gavin and Drumbo, or was this a prior iteration of BI? I love it either way—but if I can stroke Gavin a bit, I think we'll all benefit.
