Hot or not?

I was poking around Rondo when I stumbled across this:

Probably nothing new and seen before, but it's much to my liking. Anyone ever played one? Price seems right also at 319$, which translated would make it 221€+shipping.

That's actually pretty nice. I like to see basses that are not the usual P-Bass clone, but aren't some horrible shaped 5-string POS.
I like this:

And I also like this one too:

They are very cheap though, and considering you tend to get what you pay for, does anyone have any Rondo reviews?

Nicer than the Gibsons.

Ppl on the interinet seem to agree that these are: "nice fun basses to play around with". As to getting what you pay for, I believe that there are a lot of people here that would disagree on that, especially when it comes to QC of some of the more "up-market" brands these days.

That bass looks pretty rad. I'd play one. It reminds me of my former Gibson Les Paul Studio (same color scheme)

I've played that model before!

It's really not that bad at all. It was simmilar to the Gretsch shortscale basses. It IS a bit more expensive than the other SX offerings, and i ended up opting for the Gretsch instead, which really is a nicer bass, and it's pretty close in price.

On the other hand, i picked up a shortscale SX Jaguar bass last week, and i love it so far! Candy Apple Red, Tort guard, blocked neck... i even like SX's 'new' ursa headstock.

I'm always tempted to get one of their fake LP goldtops but then I look at the weight on those fuckers and remember that i would only be able to play it sitting down or on percocets. My friend has an old LP custom and after about 15 minutes I'm begging to go back to playing bass.

i guess I should exercise more.

What Gretsch did you get, DoW? Was it one of those jet-types with one pu? We've never had those basses over here, but I've always been interested in at least trying out a Gretsch. One of the ideas I had if I get that brice bass was to upgrade it with Thundertrons.

Well...

At the time, i got a crazy deal on a rare-er Gretsch, by the name of a Synchromatic, which DOES have 2 pickups: Image

I stupidly sold it shortly thereafter for WAY less than it was worth.

But, i did pick up one of the single pickup Junior Jet G2202 basses recently. It's AWESOME, and really does do a nice P bass tone. Here's a pick of it with my SX Jag and modded Bronco:

*The squier really is the same length as the other two... it just looks wonky leaning against the wall.
