Andi's Samsung Adventures

Nice guys get menial work until otherwise happens! Thanks for the grinning nudge.
Crazy cool times here in Barcelona, and the show is about to begin, which will be streaming live from this MWC venue sitting on top of Montjuic. I've had to do some crazy edits and come up with more sound design stuff than I ever coudl have expected, but now it's showtime and we're going to make this happen: We'll see what happens, I ended up doing all of the music except for the opening deal with the Royal Academy of Music.
STREEEEEMING LIVE.

So anyway, that was fast. It seems that Samsung put up the Galaxy S2 vignettes immedaitely as the show began.
Unfortunately there were some additional last-minute video edits that rendered a lot of my time-matching skillz for the Jim and Kai clips useless, but most people probably won't notice. No lie, Samsung wanted me to give Kashandra's clip a "Breather"(Chapterhouse) feel, so I gladly obliged. This clip is barely 25% of the whole mess I had to do, but you'll get the vibe.

Thanks and thanks for watching.
The ad staff (Jeil) went a strange direction with the videos, all four of which are riddled with hyperboles and things that don't make sense unless the following presentation is viewed, the resulting online response to the above clip being extremely negative, as I had expected. The vignettes are rather clunky and unrealistic without context provided, but I couldn't care less right now.
The good news is that both Jeil and Samsung staffers(and even a competing firm, with whom we had to work with this time around) gave big thumbs up for my tunes, so much so that even Sangwha is talking about ensuring that I am granted royalty to recycle the tunes later if requested from above. I as well felt sad that the additional 6 BGM tunes I provided were barely audible during the show, but with 4 more projects expected to come my way this year, I'm just going to push through for now. So much more to talk about, but will save it for later...Gotta get the Barcelona photo blog deal arranged for a thread.
The funny thing is that they suddenly needed a surprise stinger for the unveiling of both the Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy S2, so I pieced together some chamber stuff I had made with a drone I recorded with Jeoy Levenson (HCFX forumite Seifyukusa), a conspicuously-Jewish-titled "And he shall purify the Sons of Levi" (nudging him with a quote from Ezekiel). The staff then had my thundering announcement of "SAMSUNG GALAXY S2!!!11" overlayed, which was just as fun.
Not the first time my voice got used!

The new teasers for IFA are up, using music that I just made this week. Yay, but I've got no less than 6 more to revise by next week that need some serious work. Shame I won't be able to fly out to Berlin this year to see fellow forumite Bjorn and enjoy drinking pint bottles of Dunkel out on the streets.
Anyway, this one was a fun bit of ambience, though dudes on staff were more buzzing from the video shoot, spending a few days on the Coast of Portugal with the very pretty Uzbek model seen in the clip. The final edit sadly had much less of her featured, but she's all over the main clips reserved for the day of the show.

And now off to Lisbon. Listen to the chorus'd piano and try hard not to guess which 3-piece English pop trio I was requested to base this next piece off of. I just had to add my nasally "doo-doo" vox of course, certainly not my best work by far.

Sincere thanks for taking the time to watch, guys. The whole series of vids actually made me want to learn Portuguese.
I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that I've now cataloged over 100 jingles and soundscapes for all of Samsung Mobile's int'l launches over the past 10 months, especially after having practically nothing but kindergarten teaching leading up to last year.
The funny thing is, it was requested that I work on the closing scene based on "Everything Changes" (KEEEEEEEEYNE, and I complied), yet after the first screening, everything did indeed change and now we're on to something else. Also, the big opening of the show was to be based off Fonda's very Lush-like and jangley "I will Remember You", but even that got shifted after the screening. Not a bad move, now I'm working on something ambiently blurry and Radioheadesque.
If shortscalers have a noteworthy chord progression you'd like to see me pull off in the mix (that's not all funky and parallel like Pyramid Song lol), I might actually be able to slink something in! We'll see.

Hahaha I really wish I could get the permission to do something so chuckle-able. Would be an absolute delight.
Everyone in my company is pushing towards a Sigur Rosesque outcome, even though I already did a Glosoli-type deal for the Barcelona teaser I posted at the beginning of the thread. Turns out the "powers that be" from our client company absolutely love Takk...Here we go again!

Ah, Smart TV.
Upon request for a reference, I sent the planning staff an mp3 of Switchfoot's "This is Home", and they liked it so much (it really was a perfect match with the mockup, a-hem), they had me write two pieces that kinda felt like it in build and flow, though without Jon Foreman singing it was hard to convince anybody I had something worth using. By the third and fourth try, I was able to come up with a decent enoughs melody to stick, and tracked both of them for a 20-something and elderly couple video.
The 20-something Ukrainian and Russian models hired for the job were such good looking folks, I swear I wanted to kiss them all.

The American ex-pats were slightly less kissable:
