I fucking love Burgundy mist.

The original shortscale guitars; Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters, Jaguars, Broncos, Jag-stang, Jagmaster, Super-Sonic, Cyclone, and Toronados.

ROLF

Has anything else been done to it aside from being routed for full size HBs?

I like the Peraloid much better, it just seems to mesh better with it.

Did you give the original Neck pickup to him when you sold it Fran? Though if it's a stock CIJ I'd probably just replace it anyway.

No it had two humbuckers in it. I gave the CIJ pups away, to Miek i think..

Yeah they're not really great. I'd probably put hot single coils in there to get a good go between the regular SCs and humbuckers, I like Jags the best like that.

Out of interest, are all CIJ pickups thin like that or is it just the offsets?

No, some MIJ Fenders and Squier have a great sound. I suppose its relevant to which model of guitar you are trying, Jaguar pickups generally sound thin anyway so the CIJ models are'nt really doing anything wrong other than they also sound quite bland.

What ones would be best to get when you're replacing them? I liked the sound of the Classic Player so I probably wouldn't have swapped those out. I liked that they packed a bit more punch so you could use them for hard rock or metal if you wanted to(they'd be less than ideal, but IMO single coils doing metal can be more interesting sometimes, more articulate for lead work).

I might end up liking the Humbuckers - the 1M pots and general setup might make them a bit more interesting with HBs, never know.

I like SJAG-2's. They can handle gain but still sound in character.
I only put humbuckers in that because i already had some lying around and also had three Jaguars at that point and wanted to cover the whole sonic spectrum with them. Its a reversable mod anyway.

May give them a try.

Just out of interest, if I pick this up, would anyone be interested in the Mini-HBs out of it? May try to sell them locally first, or maybe coil tap them instead. Similarly, if anyone has any decent Jag pickups.

Would Strat pickups work well in it too, since that gives me more choice? There's no real inherent sound difference except maybe the claw?

Unfortunately strat pickups won't fit in a Jaguar if you check the routs and the sticky out bit of a Strat pup...

Even then they wouldn't mount correctly because of the way the guard works (wider than normal to accomodate the claw and cover meanign they'd float withouth support). That said, if you had a HH you could get a new guard cut. Also, lace sensors and SC sized humbuckers will fit but you have to work out how to mount them. Some people stuff them into the Jaguar pickup covers.

I'm pretty sure that guitar is routed HH, so it should work. I'd see if my Dad has the right tools to make the hole bigger, though really I'll just use Jag pickups.

Seems like the best option. Going with strat pups would mean a different cut guard to what's available on the market, custom job = £££ etc

It's definitely a hard color to pull off looking cool though, despite being so pretty
Jesus Christ I just realised how huge that Bass looks. The Strat looks like it's saying "Daddy!!!"

Hi, sorry, does anyone have purplehaze's contact details?

There's a CP Jag up on eBay I might like that's ending tomorrow night, but I'd still prefer the Burgundy Mist if I can get it. I gave him a few days to think about it but now he's disappeared off the edge of the earth, hasn't been on the forums or YIM or anything.

If someone has an email or something for him it might help.
