Neck/Body fit sticky?

Post by Thomas »

I'm currently amassing parts for a project (or two) and in the next week or two I'll have a few different bodies and necks about so I intend to try 'em all out with each other and keep note of what's actually compatible.

Maybe it'd be a good idea to have a sticky/list of any parts we use for projects and whether or not they're compatible with different bodies. I know neck pocket depth can be an issue sometimes as well as the width.

It might be a good source for logging what cheapo guitars etc are the best for parts tho this might be hard to keep right cos even Squiers from the same country can be all over the place quality-wise.

Anyone interested in this? I guess it could build slowly over time and it could save a lot of hassle (and wasted money) for us when we're trying to source parts for projects.

For example:

Body
1960 MM body

Neck
2008 squier standard strat crafted in indonesia 22 fret neck

Compatibility
perfect fit on neck pocket width and depth.

Known issues
Needed new neck screw holes and bridge moved back."

(obv I've made that up, and yeah it could be formatted better).

I approve of anally retentive lists.

myself and AVJ can contribute much for CP Jags.

Jag stang neck and mustang bridge drop into a CP.... for example as does a GFS Roller tom (however mismatched radius with CP neck)

Squier Standard Tele necks do not fit into Mexican Fender Tele bodies, and I assume that works vice versa.

That's all I got to add.
