My new CIJ Jag, pickguard change. unsuccessful , doesn't fit

i purchased a black aftermarket pick guard for my CIJ Jaguar i recently acquired , but the pick guard does not fit, i didn't think that the size might be different from the use version that it was probably molded after, but one thing i don't understand is that the pickups on my Jag didn't fit threw the holes for the pickups, but yet, i bought the USA aged white fender pickup covers and they fit perfect over my pickups and in between the metal claw, so, if the pickups are the same size as the USA jag pickups, than why did they not fit in the slots for the pickups on the" black after market" pickguard, the black pick guard was supposed to fit a USA Jag,
IDK, it dosnt make sense, at first i thought it was just a slight difference in the specs but how would it be that the pickups don't fit into the slots?,


but than i searched more on ebay and there is a guy that makes pick guards for CIJ jags and the only thing is he charges a lot more, so i wet sanded my pick guard, "the tortoise shell original" so that it looks new again and just put it back on, i think I'm just gonna keep it,




i actually was trying to make my Jaguar look moe like the "HOLLOW BODY Jaguar " ,, i am obsessed with that guitar and wanted mine to look more like it, but i guess ill just have to save my money and maybe sell my Jaguar one day to get more money towards the HOLLOW body, it cost $2,300.00

i had to take apart my guitar which i wasn't happy about especially that the pick guard docent fit, the "Fender Mute is annoying to setup once you take the bridge off and than back on, you have to make sure the strings are all at the perfect height to touch the foam pad and resetting the intonation, all of this is a pain,

this is how it would've looked, although it didn't fit, i still wanted to take a pic to see if i would like it but i don't, it was not meant to be on my guitar, i think the tortoise is the best for my jag,
this is what i want, maybe one day ill sell my jaguar and save some money for this guitar, but i really don't want to sell my jag, hopefully i win the lotto or something,...


this is how my guitar looks now and I decided i am happy with it, wall I'm ordering now is the bridge cover , besides that, i was on my porch taking these pictures with my crappy iPhone and the photos looked good even though the phone has a shity camera, so i realized, if my guitar looks so good with a shity camera like this, than the guitar must look really good

Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of different Japanese guards, MIJ and CIJ are different and then there appear to be a few different CIJs as well. It's steered me away from ever buying an aftermarket guard for my sunburst CIJ, though the tort on mine looks good and I think yours does too.

Where did you buy it from btw? Guitarpartsresource?

I recently modified a friends CIJ Jag, sunburst, and almost identical to my sunburst Jag. Except there were plenty of differences on close inspection. The sunburst was totally different in shape and colour and the earth was wired through to the trem plate instead of the treble-side bridge cup, two differences just off the top of my head. I didn't swap any pickguards around but I bought a black guard for my Jag to replace the tort (shitty, shitty tort...) and it fit everywhere perfectly. Except around the lower switch plate and the volume control plate. Seemed terribly off and I ended up shaving a bit off the guard around those points.

you seem reasonably handy with tools, why not just use your tort guard as a template and cut yourself a black guard from a blank? or draw your template and send it to someone who will.

I made my own pickguard using mainly a dremel, a vice and a scalpel. It's a bit rough around the edges (because it was my first time and my tools weren't quite right) but it turned out alright:

yeah, i thought about it, buying a blank and using mine as a template, i actually turned my last guitars jazzmaster pickguard into a jaguar pick guard and it was pretty easy compared to the other work i do , but in the end i decided to keep it original for now, i didn't like how it looked with the black after all, the hollow body that i was trying to imitate has a different sunburst, and it goes with it, but on my Jag, it doesn't as well, my guitar is more reddish and a darker sunburst, so i think the tortoise goes the best for now, i just would rather have the USA replacement for it from Fender, it is much nicer, thicker, shinier, and better pattern inside, but i know the USA replacement probably won't fit, so, i guess ill leave it for now, i love my guitar the way it is right now, this is my first Jaguar and i am just so happy with it, i really don't know if any of you guys have an obsession for their guitars like i do, I'm telling you guys, all i think about is my Jag, and can't stop playing it and if not playing it, I'm posting pics of it somewhere, LOL!. I'm nuts, i know,
its just that this is the guitar i have always wanted for 15 years now, and finally decided to buy one, i guess the obsession will pass some day and ill have to add another guitar to my short scale addiction,

here is when i cut into the Jazzmaster pickeguard i had on my old jag master project hybrid, it was pretty easy to shape it, i pretty much turned the jazz master guard into a Jag pick guard,


but heres a guy on ebay that does it for you, and specifically for CIJ JAGUARS, as he says, and pretty cheap for all the variety he offers, pretty impressive,
(But, what i don't get in this posting is, first it says," here is a 2005 CIJ FENDER Jaguar Pickguard " than he goes on to say he can make these any color and what not, well, which one is it, are you getting a "FENDER JAG GUARD"? or is he making them,? IDK, I got confused on that one, but anyway

this is what i really want, the USA replacement GUArd, it is just so much better quality and pattern than any other, but won't fit on my jag,


here is my guitar next to a picture of another FENDER JAPAN JAGUAR , mine is on the left, but you can tell the Pickguard is not that shiny, although it probably has the plastic on it but still, its not as nice as the USA versions,
my blocks are a tiny bit bigger than the jag on the right, and i think they tinted the blocks on the other jag with painting the back of the block with yellow stain or paint before inlaying them, thats what some people do and i think thats what that was, although it could just be the picture , but the blocks on the right look yellowish,

but that definitely the same model jag next to mine, you can tell that the screws are even positioned at the same spots, like the screw on the top of the pick guard on the right of the heel of the neck, is closer the control plate with the 3 switches and the MIM and AVRI are closer to the heel,

and if you look at the project jazz master jaguar hybrid jag master up top that i already sold, but if you notice how much shinier the pick guard is compared to my CIJ jag , the Jazzmaster hybrid has a USA Guard,




anyway, thats enough for me about pick guards for one day
