Fender to release KC Jaguar signature model.

That model looks good but I dislike the logo, I generally prefer 70s style Fender logos

Anyone knows what's the story behind it? I believe stock Jaguars never had this Kurt's logo?

it's probably because fender stick that damn logo on everything now as they obviously think it's more authentic, and probably so people don't start selling these guitars as vintage jags. there's always differences on their reissues.

It's the same logo that was on his guitar, except "Jaguar" is too far away from "Fender".

yea it did. It's really strange. I'm thinking it must have been a custom neck, because I've never seen a strat headstock, nor a spaghetti logo on a jaguar.

here's a comparison pic of Kurt's jag with a 'normal' jag.

blimey, that does seem to make it one of a kind. bizarre.

edit: mind you, pat seems to unearth the occasional 60s weirdo mexican fender guitar which has the 50s logo on it, as if they thought "ah, this one's getting shipped across the border, fuck it."

perhaps it's a mexican export re-imported?

This is my theory.

The guitar had a standard jag neck w/ standard decal. The headstock sustained some chunky damage so the bottom portion was re-shaped to get rid of the damaged area and subsequently made the overall shape look more strat-like. The standard jag decal was removed in the process so they threw a repro decal on headstock and called it a day.

I have actually seen that repro spaghetti jag decal on one other guitar (a righty jaguar).

the two guitars in the pictures are also different years . . .

Kurt's had blocks and binding, the other has no biding, so it's older.

kurts guitar did not have blocks, but the fact remains that they never used strat headstocks or spaghetti logos on any year of jaguar.

and are we really sure what they did on left models? I mean, the strat headstock, sure; they're not going to change that. But it wouldn't surprise me if they used those logos. Also, I don't see why if there was a mishap with the headstock, Kurt would want the logo put back on. Doesn't really seem to his personality, right?

I also realize I'm saying that I've never actually met him but it's not how I would perceive his personality.

I was in my local guitar emporium yesterday and they said they have 2 of these coming in soon. I'll check it out just to see what it's like. They also said it was the.more limited relic one they were getting in so they must be doing 2 versions.

You're probably assuming correctly, therefore it would have happened before he owned it.

I mean it's ok for lefties but for common right handed guitarist this ain't gonna work.

Maybe they gonna make lefty KC jag for right handed guitarists and "normal" Jag for lefties... so they can flip it backwards Hendrix stlye
