Seriously amazing choice in Japan - aside from every guitar with brown tort should have not-brown tort because it looks rubbish on every one of those pictures. Apart from that it's 100% schwing all the way

Very curious about the switching here. Looks like the bastard child of a Mustang and Cyclone II

well, mustang special is better than just mustang. it's not a mustang.
I can appreciate that - I'm more referring to their choice of typeface and layout than the wording to be honest. It doesn't even follow the shape of the headstock.

I really need someone to explain to me how this shit works out. I think there are more shorstscale models in that post than the entire fucking offering of guitars and basses from fender U.S. and Mexico. Does every Japanese person buy 4 new guitars a year? How the fuck is this wealth of awesome shit justified in only one market?

apparently mustangs are like as popular as strats in japan. people say that shortscales have always been really popular there because a lot of people have small hands.

If that were the reason that mustangs were popular, then why would strats be so popular too?

Also they have a boatload of Jazzmasters, which are big and heavy guitars that are larger than most Japanese people.

strats are popular there for the same reasons they're popular here. swiss army knife of guitar tones, all your guitar heroes have played it, etc. I don't know anything about jazzmasters being that popular, I guarantee mustangs are more popular than jazzmasters though.

My point is that popularity or not, Fender Japan seems to have diversity in all their models. Their Jazzmasters come in several different trimmings, all of seemingly very good quality and close-to-vintage specs, whereas we're limited to models separated more by budget and features than by cosmetic variety.
