That pink looks coral to me, which is my favourite.
I have a 1970 Comp Mustang in blue. I left it stock because it is perfect.
If I was building a coral mustang, I might consider P-Rails. I have a set in a Super-Sonic, and they are pretty cool. Lots of sounds.
Another option would be to skip the tremolo, and set it up with a Tele bridge. You could even do the TV Jones tele bridge and have filtertrons put in.
Too far?
And I like pearl. Or mint.

A Whole Bunch of Guitars. Some with sparkles. Some with Pearl. Some with racing stripes.

Everyone keeps putting Tele bridges on Offsets lately. Nothing wrong with it, but I plan on sticking with the Mustang bridge/tremolo. I may go with inca Silver after seeing it on a Jaguar.

+1 although I'd be more sure seeing them in the context of the whole guitar.portugalwillie wrote:straight up and down, for sure.
but, I'd spread them out as far as possible.

I helped Sven get a Lefty Jagstang today from a guy on Dallas CL. So after I picked it up, I took it home and compared it to my Jag-stang template I had printed online. There is nothing like having an original guitar to double check your templates with. My original template was way too small, so I traced the body with a pencil and took lots of measurements and photos to get a more accurate Jag-stang template. I need more MDF board to make fresh templates for the Jag-stang and the Mustang that I updated after buying the Mulletstang body. Sven is also being truly awesome and is sending me a Mustang tremolo and bridge for my help on gettting the Jag-stang for him. That means I only need to get the thimbles, control plate, wiring kit, black pickup covers, screws and a neck to completely finish the Mullestang.

my advices for jag-stang.
it´s a bitch for keep in tune took me 1 year to learn how put it in tune.
means in tune , stays 100% in tune. i learned whit MadMike how do it, can search madmike lessons fine adjustment.
don´t forget buy original tremolos even original is already hard to stay in tune
Graphite/graphtech/true cow-bone nut is a must. plastic one whit time start get flimsy.
Wood , Original jag-stang was Alder , for cut of custs they made in Basswood, problem Basswood don´t fit it.
its sounds like a shit, dull, crap no life yuck tone.
So if going do in Alder or Ash.
my surf-stone is made of Ash its sound clear very bell tone very very bright.
Curves, put curves contour at back , original jag is uncomfortable to play sit.
opinion that someone have that shit over 5 years.
hardware, dont cut custs in pot´s and eletronicals. Cts american /Alpha japan and switchcraft worthy they cust.
tuners , cheapo and good turners is gotoh. i used Gotoh magnum lock works perfect and half price shaller/sperzell/planet-wave

According to wiki the later resissue JS were alder - can't find any confirmation of that really. anyone know? I got Greenknees reissue JS and I love it lots. Contours would be an improvement and maybe thinner body thickness too but otherwise its so easy to play.

My Jag-stang will be made out of Southern Ash that is not heavy. I think the thinner body will be a nice improvement as will the contours.Dave wrote:According to wiki the later resissue JS were alder - can't find any confirmation of that really. anyone know? The Mustang bridge and the tremolo came in today from Sven. This gets me a lot closer. Most of the rest is small stuff except for the neck. I need to get the control plate and thimbles before drilling the screw holes for the pickguard. If I get impatient, I could borrow my Musicmaster neck to do some alignment work.
On the Jag-stang project, I think I will use a Mustang pickguard instead of a Jag-stang pickguard because I don't like the uneveness of the JS pickguard. I think the Mustang pickguard will look fine. I may have to modify a bit.

Dueling would mean he's only doing one.Mages wrote:ah ok. I think you mean dueling then! =]taylornutt wrote:Like dualing banjos....Two Guitar projects at the same time.Mages wrote:ummm..... what exactly are "Dualing Guitar Projects"?
Dualing means he is obligated to do both, and then play them at the same time.
I vote for making a hybrid Mustang/Jagstang, use the whole whole lower horn from the Mustang template. Pickguards would be a much easier proposition, better shape too.
Maybe THIS pickguard would be useful?

I have had both items on my watch list for some time now. The wiring harness is way too expensive but it's complete so I might go after it. I definitely like the pickguard, even the color. I think a vintage Mustang pickguard looks fine on the Jag-stang, though it could be trimmed a bit near the cutaway. I traced the lefty Jag-stang body while I had it and made a lot of measurements. I used a Mustang pickguard and template and transferred them to the new template. I am thrilled I got to check all the dimensions against an actual Jag-stang.AddamInsane wrote:I vote for making a hybrid Mustang/Jagstang, use the whole whole lower horn from the Mustang template. I finally got some coin from guitar lessons so I am moving forward with trying to complete the Mullet-stang. I am looking for a neck.
I barely missed a used Jag-stang neck on evil-bay. I also found a brand new 65 RI neck for $251. I am considering it, though It's not the best deal, but it's completely ready to go and most people go crazy for them.
