Yesterday I sorted out the artwork for the next batch (of 50!) Green Russian Muffs. These have been professionally drilled so all the holes line-up with the new circuit boards, and the enclosures will be powdercoated and screen printed by the same place that did the Weasel Stomps and buffers. Trying out a serious halftone newsprint aesthetic with this one:

During my trip to Tim's gaff he showed me a Weasel Stomps and a klon buffer, I must say the finish and graphics looked brilliant.

Got the new painted enclosures for Green Russian Big Muffs back yesterday. These are the first batch I've had professionally drilled at one place, then painted at another. All the parts (save the 9V jack and the LED) are also board mounted, so it's a leap forward in construction.

Don't mind answering at all. I'll even tell you who does the work in a PM if you ever need the info.

This is for a batch of 50. Obviously economies of scale come into play.

Enclosure: Â£2.60
Drilling: Â£2.40
Painting: Â£2
Pots: Â£2
Jacks: Â£1.50
Boards/components: Â£2
Stomper: Â£1
Knobs: Â£1

Total: Â£14.50 per pedal. Maybe I should add petrol in there as well. Um Â£1 per pedal? As you're aware though, the biggest cost is time. Builders with higher production volumes pay less per unit, and often charge much more for glorified muff clones.

That's cool, I was just interested in the finishing costs really, that's pretty decent to be honest considering I'm shelling out around Â£4 for unfinished BB cases. You gotta have a batch of things to do though I guess - maybe one day.

Yeah the place that painted some of my other pedals was Â£6.50 a box. I made the mistake of letting them see the website (and therefore the prices) before getting quoted, so they kinda fucked me. Quality was just as good, but I did get all the enclosures individually wrapped in tissue paper(!)
This new place that's local to me is much cheaper, but the quality is still great, although the guy is a massive grump.

Really nice demo, it's great to see how pedals work in combination with others and this really shows the range of sounds you could get out of this thing.

No the boards don't affect sound at all. Vero, pcb, perf, point-to-point. All sound the same. This move is all about neatness and ease of construction. Eventually all my effects will be pro-pcbs and I'll never have to etch or drill another board again. This is almost as good as when I chucked-out my makeshift spray booth and declared that I'd never spray paint another pedal!
