NAD: Traynor YGA Signature

I found this amp for a great price an hour away from my home. I drove out there, met the dude's dad and came home with a sweet half stack in the trunk of my van.

It's a Traynor YGA Signature head and 70's Traynor 4x10 cab. Both the head and cab are beat up but I've got plans for a nice stock restoration.

Here's what Traynor has to say about it:
"Electronically this was a Bass Master with tremolo.
When first introduced it was called the Signature only, not YGA-1."
Dual pairs of inputs, dual volume controls, bass, treble, tremolo speed & intensity controls
45 Watts sine-wave @ 8 Ohms

A fuse in the plug?! this must be original, right?

Let me know if you guys see anything quirky or significant about this thing. I'd love to hear what you amp-techy guys have to say. I'll post more pictures once it's restored.

The way it sounds right now is straight up thrash punk, but in the best way you can imagine. You can jumper the inputs like an old marshall and dial in the two channels and it's fantastic and filthy. I can't wait to get it serviced and clean it up a bit.

I'm thinking of making my own custom face-plate. Maybe some stained wood or something. Could be cool.

Nah, I think the latest tube rectified YBA (and variants) are 68s... This looks more like a 69/70 to me.
Plus, the rectifier tube would be right to the left of the power tubes. You can see the cap on Brandon's, where the socket would have been.

Concerning the restoration, good luck finding an "automobile" logo. They're super rare.
The good news is that the og knobs on these are the same as really similar to the ones on modern Marshalls but I think it would look super bad-ass with black chickenheads. Tolex doesn't look too bad, either. I'd just hit it with some paint thinner and then, with some armor all. I'd swap those ugly chassis mounting bolts for something like this:

When I say "restoration" I just mean, make it function 100%. I do want those mounting screws though.
The bolts are super ugly.

I think I'm going to make a face plate with some stained plywood of some sort.
...I actually have one of those Traynor logo's from my 6x10. I prefer the 70's logos. I prefer no-logo overall.

Dropped this baby off at the amp tech's place today. I'll keep you all posted with the progress!

The way that transformer is angled indicates that it was probably dropped and hit pretty hard, no big deal except for the tubes that were in it at the time.

Check capacitors, it will probably sound better with new capacitors.
