new week new song.
Last practice was only the second one she came too, the first one worked on a sonic youth cover. But this one we worked on an actual one of our own. please check it out an pass judgement . recording is pretty naff really and it is still sketchy and full of mistakes but anyway.

We just use a little zoom recorder mic thing in the middle of the room lolz. We have trouble with the pa trying to get her vocals up just end up making the speakers feedback(any tips? i have had to turn down already)
I would like to start using my pedal bass organ but it would involve a pedal cull to make transporting easier.
Thanks for the listen and comments boys.

Try and put as much (sensible) distance between the mic and the PA, keep the mic turned away from the speakerz at 180 degrees (a la this), make sure the speakers are at head height and if your PA has a graphic EQ, see if you can find the frequency that's feedingback, and cut it by a few dB.Hurb wrote:We just use a little zoom recorder mic thing in the middle of the room lolz. Good advice. We've been having feedback trouble with our mics in our room, and this helpedDoog wrote:Try and put as much (sensible) distance between the mic and the PA, keep the mic turned away from the speakerz at 180 degrees (a la this), make sure the speakers are at head height and if your PA has a graphic EQ, see if you can find the frequency that's feedingback, and cut it by a few dB.Hurb wrote:We just use a little zoom recorder mic thing in the middle of the room lolz. Awesome doog, will try it out. All obvious stuff really I suppose but when the speakers are squealing like fuck you just end up turning it down in a hurry.Doog wrote:Try and put as much (sensible) distance between the mic and the PA, keep the mic turned away from the speakerz at 180 degrees (a la this), make sure the speakers are at head height and if your PA has a graphic EQ, see if you can find the frequency that's feedingback, and cut it by a few dB.Hurb wrote:We just use a little zoom recorder mic thing in the middle of the room lolz. Thanks for checking it out. the bass organ sounds phat in person, but it hasn't been picked up very well from the recorder. Wish we could get a better recording of everything really.

My mate uses one in his band, it sounds great live though a 4x10. He also uses a bass synth pedal with it for variety.Hurb wrote:Thanks for checking it out. the bass organ sounds phat in person, but it hasn't been picked up very well from the recorder. liking the track a lot Hurb but like Sean says the bass is lost a bit but I imagine it sounding pretty tasty. What are you running the PA/Vocals through? Are there not a couple of other channels to run a few mics through and record off the mixer?

Pass, not sure what my options are with the pa really. I do have some recording equipment so when we have a few songs I will try and get better recordings.
Cheers for checking it out!
