Looking for a Pre-CBS Fiesta Red Jaguar

Post by Rawaraps »

OK, so, right now i'm pretty sure there is a financial crash coming up, so i'm looking to invest my money into a pre-cbs (til '64, maybe '65, if its cheap or very clean) Jag. But it has to be in my favourite color, too: Fiesta Red. The problem is, i haven't found one for sale. So if one of you know a where i could get the guitar of my dreams, help would be appreciated.
Preferably from the EU, cause i'm from germany.

Thanks for the help.

One of the few colours of vintage Jag I've never actually seen in reaL life. Love that colour.

Good luck with your search.

No idea what money you have in mind, but as "luxury items", vintage guitars are highly affected by the overall economy. you can lose ten thousands in owning a 52 Telecaster if you bought one when prices were higher.

I guess there won't be much of these around there in Europe. At least, if we're talking about an original finish. And a refinished one won't be much of a collective item. Then, the CBS thing is not affecting the value of Jaguars oder Mustangs very much.

Biggest problem though: If you want to buy such a guitar locally, and are that "unflexible" in what you want, you're in the hands of the few guitar dealers that specialize in these guitars. And the prices they ask for don't make your investment much of an "investment", because the guitar will maybe never be worth what you will pay.
If I were you, I would do some research and then fly to USA and buy there. But before that, you may give these guys a call: http://www.oldenburger-music-station.de it's maybe the best adress for vintage guitars in northern germany.

I know Robroe has a Fiesta Red Jaguar, but I don't think it is vintage.

yeah, you do have a point, but because i adore this guitar i wouldnt really care if i'd lose money, because i wouldnt sell it anyway. I just want to spend my money (around 5000€) now, to have something i really like. I don't want to sell it in a few years to make profit.
Well, do you know some dealers that are specialized in jags? :D
I already thought about contacting those guys at oldenburg, but then again, they don't seem to care about jags alot, but i will still give it a try.
Thanks

ok, if you want to spend 5.000 on an item that is worth about 2.5 to 3.000 (maybe a little more because of the custom colour) , then a dealer will find a way :D there are no such dealers in Germany. You find about 5 or 6 dealers (with reputation) that specialize in expensive vintage gear, but no one of them could make a living without selling the more sought after stuff, like strats, teles, les pauls ...

And yet in your first post you're on about 'investing' because of some apocalyptic financial crash. You could get a brilliant guitar for less you've budgeted for, even a vintage one.

yeah. Your best bet is a refinished early 60s jag in any colour and a good luthier with some cans of fiesta red. such jags are on offer every now and then around 2.000 €. a pro finish and maybe replacing some worn parts may cost you another 300-500 €. Then you got your vintage jag in fr for about half of what you want to pay.

I really just want to bring up here that we rather frown upon classified-style posts (looking for X, anyone have one?) outside of the classified subforum, which new members cannot see. It's just for the safety of members here. You probably didn't see that forum as you're new, but please refrain from making these types of posts here until you have the required number of posts to see the Classifieds forum.

If y'all just want to discuss where to buy one of these from other retailers or ebay links, that's fine. But please do not set up member-to-member sales outside of the appropriate subforums.

Please see the rules regarding this. And welcome to the board.

I don't know - what standard do you want to use for "vintage?" There's really no universally accepted definition... if you want to go with 25 years (a popularly cited, although arbitrary number), then sometime around 2024 or so... :)

Beautiful guitar you have there - vintage or not. 8)
