Anyone have experience w/ TAD tubes?

Post by SGJarrod »

As the title says.... Its about time to retube the Dual Terror and I am debating on using JJs as I always have or try the TADs.... I have not heard anything but good about the TADs but as always it never hurts to ask for ShortScalers experience..

Thanks
J

I can't offer a comparison between the two as I have no experience with TAD, but I've always loved JJ tubes.

I put a set of TADs in my modified Valve Junior earlier this year, I've been pleased with their sound. Compared to the EHX/Solvtek(I think?) 12AX7/EL84 respectively, set that they replaced the sound was tighter and more focused overall, and perhaps a bit brighter.

you nailed it dude...... Got my set in the mail from Daren Riley today.... tighter, clearer and definately brighter....I'm very satisfied.... I am now running my tone knob at 2 o'clock instead of 3 or 4..... the JJ's had more gain thou

I put a Highgrade in V1 and it really woke up the clean channel.... it actually made a Duncan JB sound decent clean

and I am beyond satisfied with Darren's store..... ordered and to me from NC to MO within 3 days and extremely well packed.... and gotta love free picks!!!

My main amp is a blackfaced Twin Reverb with TAD 6L6's. Since they were freshly installed just before I bought it I don't have a basis for comparison, but I can tell you they sound great.
I know just enough to be dangerous....
