Able to hold down a firm bottom end that glues a song together while simultaneously shining as a center-stage musician in his own right, Novoselic helped to establish a standard for the sound, feel, and style of playing the root notes with a pick of the past two decades.

nothing wrong with that statement, my latest listenings of nevermind made me appreciate the bass & drums a lot more than I remembered. Fuck most of the riffs I remember are on the bass and not on the guitar if I'm honest. So if fender are flogging an old corpse why can't krist cash in for a bit of a pensiontheshadowofseattle wrote:Able to hold down a firm bottom end that glues a song together while simultaneously shining as a center-stage musician in his own right, Novoselic helped to establish a standard for the sound, feel, and style of playing the root notes with a pick of the past two decades.

i botched it, though. i thought stone was trying to say his style was a result of playing root notes with a pick for the last two decades, but he's obviously saying it's a "standard for the sound, feel and style" "of the last two decades."
so, fuck me. i need to word harder.

Yep, Nirvana was all about the rhythm section, musically. It's easy to miss it due to Kurt's star power, but if you just listen, it's all in the bass and drums; the songs would suck if they were based around the guitar.lorez wrote:nothing wrong with that statement, my latest listenings of nevermind made me appreciate the bass & drums a lot more than I remembered. I absolutely love this choice, both the Sig artist and basing it on the RD. This thing is the sex, and the stacked J pickups should sound incredible. Would love to get my hands on one.

He played lots of different Gibson bases, and an Ibanez Eagle bass as well.
However, he played the RD Artist the most, it was his go to bass on the Nevermind. I saw him playing with Flipper in Dublin a few years back, he was playing an RD Artist then. He mixed it up a bit more on the In Utero tour. I understnad he used the Ripper to record Nevermind and In Utero.
