NGD! CIJ Mustang MG69

Post by cixelsyd »

Hello everyone!
New to the shortscale forum. Been rocking TGP, TDPRI, and OSG for a while (I play on a 52 AVRI Tele and CIJ Jazzmaster) but never had a shortscale and was never cool enough to justify joining shortscale :(

Anyway, that's about to change.
One of my backup guitars (Dillion DTT72) got stolen a few days ago and I've been looking for a new guitar to suppress some GAS...
and I came upon this.

97-98 CIJ MG69. Going to play it tomorrow to see how it fits my hand, but I wanted to know what you guys thought about the deal.
The asking price is about 500 in USD, and MG69s seem to go for about 600~700 here in Korea. Goddamn ebay is ruining everything.

Anyway, wanted to introduce myself and say hello.. and also get your two cents on the matter.

Thanks!

Given that you're in Korea I can't comment on how much they are worth there, but $500 seems pretty fair as long as it's in good condition.

Welcome aboard. $500 is not bad considering they retail for over $900. Not the best deal ever, but it looks hot. I actually like the red tort on Daphne Blue

It's Sonic Blue, I thought. I had that '69 RI in Sonic Blue, and it's definitely a better color than the Daphne Blue on the '65 RI but as far as the guitar itself goes, no contest, '65 RI wins.

I believe it's sonic blue.

i was actually confused at first, since the two other pictures that the guy posted... one looks surf green and the other seafoam.

But from what I understand, they didn't make MG69s in those colors?

Doesn't matter, it's pretty and that's a good price. You should do it and post proper pics of it.

I had one of these with a mint pickguard, and black pickup covers. I only sold it because my other Mustang is my number 1.

The necks are superb.

Welcome!

Picked it up. Loving this Stang!
How come nobody told me that this guitar was a helluva lot of fun to play? May not be the best guitar I ever played, but I can say without a doubt that it is the most fun.

Reporting to base tomorrow, but I'm being discharged the day after (All korean males have to serve in the armed forces for 22 months :P) so I will take better pictures of it then.

Hmm. You need to directly link to the image, the embedding tags here don't like being given server arguments for displaying. We need to upgrade the site at some point.

I'd fix your tags for you but I can't hit imageshack from work to get the direct link.

Welcome to the club! The fun to play factor is why we have a site dedicated to these guitars, nothing beats a shortscale in fun and playability. It's only a secret because most guitarists have their heads stuck in their asses and won't play anything SRV/Page/Hendrix didn't play.

fantastic snag on the mustang.

great pictures, though the img tags would work better with direct links, instead of scaled images.. but i can never quite figure out image shack.

Have fun with that!

That's the main reason I never go back to Korea these days.
