I hated the one I loaned from a mate.

Standard channel is shrill and harsh; the boost is far too loud, and muddy as sin.

Just my opinion though.... it just didn't work for me.

If you're looking for a marshall-y sounding pedal, a dude from the nzguitars forum (not me, ha!) is selling a Catalinbread DLS:

http://www.musicxchange.co.nz/auction_d ... _id=102523 (the NZguitars classifieds site)

Would save you a bit on importing a pedal.

If you are really set on the box of rock, the zvex distortron is the distortion half, with extra options to tweak it. It's also cheaper than the BoR, and if you want to pair it with a boost, you'd at least get the option of putting in front of the dirt instead of afterwards like a volume boost.

Shortscale BoR demos (both Made by Mike clones)

Mikes DLS:

Of course there's heaps of demos of the actual things about too, haha.

I personally really like my tweaked MBM clone (tweaked tone control, boost before distortion side)- it's a really ballsy pedal for doing guitar overdubs and works fantastically on bass, as the low end content is brillz.

Here's a handycam video I did with the original clone Mike lent me, sounding rad on da bass:

Avril Lavigne is a very important influence in my life.
