That Jaguar is nice and generally speaking they are the superior instrument of the two. But if your username is anything to go by, the Jag-Stang may suit you better and need less modifications.

Jaguar is the better deal, but the Jag-stang is a more rare guitar. Jag-stangs go for $500 all the time, but CIJ Jaguars usually start quite a bit higher.
What kind of Music do you play?
J Mascis Jazzmaster | AVRI Jaguar | Tuxedo-stang |Fender Toronado GT |
Squier FSR Sparkle Jaguar | Squier CV Mustang |1971 Fender Bronco| Baja Telecaster |

My point entirely. If Metalhead indeed plays Metal, in my experience of owning five of each over the years, the Jag-Stang is better suited to Metal.

Nah, them third harmonics behind teh bridge play havoc with a high output pickup. I ended up using a buzzstop to tame things down.

Jag-stangs have massively appreciated over the last couple of years, I think you'll find.
Also, there's a clue to the sort of music he's into in his name, Poirot.

Besides that, theoretically the pots on a Jag are the wrong value for 'buckers and although its a matter of taste, basswood is preferred over alder for its darker tone. The JS is simply better for Metal. But hey! i might be jumping the gun here, maybe he wants to play some Slowdive or something?
This is an old vid of mine, demonstrates the huge low end on a JS..

(I got muddled up - there's not actually an Aphex Twin track called "We Care Because You Do", turns out that's what the album's called. So here's a track from it)

Yeah, theres always the option of using a gate on something like a Line 6 POD to cut out all the shit but if you go straight into a high gain head you are fucked. Ghost harmonics all day long.
