Too bad it sounds like a turd in a sock drawer.
Those gretsch pickups are the worst thing ever. Will be modding ASAP.

Probably the Duncan Mustang bass pickup. I might have to settle for the Fender, depending on budget.

Fender Mustang Bass pickup is the Duncan Designed Mustang Bass pickup. I'm not aware of anything else Duncan makes for it. There's the Aero Mustang Bass pickup but that's $150.

Anyway, why don't you just use a Red Lace Sensor? My Musicmaster Bass has one and sounds awesome, I like it better than my Mustang Bass w/ the Aero. Here's even a song I recorded with it:

Close! I sold ye olde stang bass a while back, and really missed it. Traded the dude who put this together. It's a CIJ body and vintage neck.

Really quiet and muffled. I had it going through my twin into 1x12 and 1x15 today, and pumping it up to 4 and spiking the mids and treble brought it back from the dead. Maybe those pickups need to be closer to the strings? Im just looking for a WARM AND PUNCHY bass tone. Which my 'stang bass sure had.
