I don't really think it's worth $100. You won't see them for less than $200-$300 typically, but that's online so it doesn't mean anything. I've had a lot of "surely worth $100?" guitars. Never worth it in the end, somewhere between buying it and having it shipped, realizing it's lackluster [or even cumbersome/unfriendly] once the novelty wears off, finding some poor sap who actually wants it and selling it on/shipping it to them... you invariably lose time and money in spades, unless you REALLY pull one over on some kid (which, out of some sense of misplaced sympathy towards young guitar-playing strangers, I never have). Get a nice Squier Bullet Strat and pretend it looks more interesting; it'll certainly sound/play better.
How you spend your $100 is entirely up to you, and it's probably good that it's your limit for the junky stuff... but I'd hold out for a cooler guitar.
