It's a 1k pot in place of the 47 ohm resistor on the reutz low pass filter arm

I'm not directly familiar with teh Reutz mod, are you referring to the low pass leg of the feedback loop for the gain?

Damn, that is a brilliant idea. I should have done something like that when I made my Rat. Sometimes mine has a tad too much bass after I customized that loop.

What is your going rate for a custom pedal, if I were to send you a schem?

I can't claim entire credit for it, it's lifted from the "Lube" knob on the 4-knob RAT from DIY godfather Beavis Audio.

It is a pretty cool idea though. Custom work entirely depends on the complexity, but I do 3 knob RATs with LM308Ns starting at Â£80.

Hehe. It's kinda funny to hear "Beavis Audio" being called a godfather of DIY pedalmaking. I remember that dano guy way back when on Aron Nelson's board and he didn't know jack back then.

Actually, I was more thinking of a custom Dist+ with a BMP tone stack. If you know your circuits you might recognize what the trade name for such a thing is called. I loved the sound of the one I breadboarded but then my life collapsed and I never finished building one. I could send you the schem...

Yeah, the pedal DIY community has really changed since 2006 when I stopped being a regular in those circles. I searched last night for Brian "indyguitarist" Wamprat to locate some sound samples he used to have up of some mods, and there's only a decaying forum left on his site. I'm kinda sad about that, he gave me several of his mods for free back when he was selling them some of which are actually included in the pedal I was referencing above. Jack Orman, RG Keen, Mark Hammer...I used to talk to those guys all the time picking their brains about circuits. I actually went to Hammer to help me solve a problem I hit when I was working on the design for that monster tremolo pedal that Hurb wanted a few years back, he was always so nice.

I wonder if any more of my "Pungent Buzz" circuits got built. I was aware of about three people who had built them from my schem that I posted and the sound samples were always awesome. Those old forums are just dead zones now.

Anyway, no the pedal I was referencing, the Dist+ with a BMP tone stack, was called the ____ on the market. I have always hated that pedal as it sounded like shit, so I never bothered playing with it, however Indyguitarist spent the time with it and had come up with several bits to swap out to make it sound not-shit, called the _____ mod. I asked him if I could just buy that mod rather than the whole package as I was floored by the sound samples of that mod, and he just gave me the whole mod package for free. I took the ____ schem and stripped it completely down to the actual base circuit, applied the mods and tweaked them just a tad, and the result sounded great. I believe I had named it the "Rising Sun" on the schem drawing. I still have to dig that stuff out, had band practice and such last night.

Oh dang. Yeah, just checked out his page, he does seem to be doing really well. I didn't expect this many of the old guys to get this successful with the craft, we were mostly just a bunch of dorks playing with circuits back then.

I kinda want that '65 overdrive he has up there...

Yeah I saw that one, built originally for Empires Al or his bandmate as I recall. I charged him less than that originally! (because he's shortscale bretheren).
