Hmmm. Realistic GAS.....
The Schecter Corsair 12 string...
A Schecter Ultra VI
A Pawnshop Mustang......Red .. Switch in a tort pickguard , Duncan Phatcats and a Tune-o-matic with Bigsby.... That would just make it uber sexy.....
Amp wise ? I have my GAS amps ... Maybe a Vox AC30.. Or a Night Train...

There's a lot of ways to do it now, lots of possibilities on that switch.Fran wrote:Is that the standard wiring for an Esquire?
Teles and Esquires originally had capacitors or resistors to darken the tone in one position, like the rhythm circuit on a jazzmaster/jaguar. It was for the neck pickup on Teles. AV Teles come wired like this as standard with extra bits and a schematic in the case to change it if you like, just as the AV Strats come with a 3-way switch stock and a 5-way supplied in the case.
This changed on Teles in '67 to give the familiar neck-middle-bridge setup (previously there had been no middle position, just a dark neck setting where the tone control doesn't work, then neck and bridge settings where it works normally... though the earliest teles, the 'nocasters', had a blend pot instead of a tone knob to mix both pickups in, which was much more useful and I always wonder why they didn't stick with that).
Esquires are kinda open to interpretation I guess. I probably wouldn't use the resistor thing as you could just roll off the tone knob, I guess when people comped more jazz chords in the background it was more useful to jump between fully off and wide open like that at the flick of a switch.

Thanks. I watched some demos a while ago of the originals and like you said, could not see much point in using the caps. Its probably more useful as a killswitch to me but then i think surely i should do something with it.paul_ wrote:There's a lot of ways to do it now, lots of possibilities on that switch.Fran wrote:Is that the standard wiring for an Esquire?

I think I want to build one of these kits from Guitar Kits USA. You can attach any neck you want including shortscale Fender necks , though I might look for an Airline neck.
