The high e string keeps... exploding for some reason. Usually after I use the trem quite a bit. Maybe I need to tighten/loosen it. Basically, the ring at the end just bursts off and separates from the rest of the string.
Is there a particular brand of string that's joined better at the end maybe?
I did actually buy a Jag in the end.

Yeah it's happened to me after heavy upwards trem use. Fender Bullets, as mentioned, are apparently a good solution, however some folks actually solder their balls (teehee) to the wire. I'd also recommend getting a bit of smooth sandpaper rolled in a cone and stick in the hole to smooth of any edges the wire is traversing. maybe stick some vaseline and pencil graphite in there too - do this wherever the strings contact other things too.

Like dots said, rough metal somewhere in the bridge or tailpiece/trem can lead to repeated string breakage. You can also try some nut sauce if all else fails.
Also, possibly troll physics here but is it possible that the strings being wound on the tuners backwards could give you just a little too much tension that would cause the thinnest string to break? Or have you restrung it correctly since taking the pictures

They're wound the correct way now.Nick wrote:Like dots said, rough metal somewhere in the bridge or tailpiece/trem can lead to repeated string breakage. You can also try some nut sauce if all else fails.

I've not cut off the E string whereas I thijnk I normally would a bit at the end. Was a bitch to wind. Hopefully this helps.honeyiscool wrote:This really only happened on one of my three Mustangs but I had one that loved to eat the high E string. Usually, wrapping the string a couple more times than I normally would helped.
Really loving the combo of my Jag and some of the lower gain models on the Pod HD500, especially the Bassman in that clip.
