got the control cavity routed, and the pup cavity routed, still need to make the area for the toggle deeper, and then route out the trem area
so.. its slow going, but that happens when its 140km away.

so i'm digging up this thread, as i will working on it again soon (early next week) and i'm almost at the paint stage.

i'm also thinking jazzmaster pup in the neck, with a twangking in the bridge
so custom mint guard it is
i need to pick up a jaguar upper control plate, just to tape over the switches (and that could be where i put in a kill switch...)

but body colour is what it all comes down too, and i've thought long about it, and i was contemplating red, but i have enough red guitars, then i thought black, but i have enough black guitars...
so..
i'm asking you my brethren for input

I'd normally be saying Shell Pink, but for some reason it's calling out Comp Orange to me.

i'm not gonna do a comp stripe on this one (i don't think) but orange would be sexy

i did a mock up of LatLat's idea using the mustang builder, so the shape and trem isn't accurate but, *shrug*

so, i'm going to make another one, i've still got enough poplar left for another body..
that lower horn has always made me sad..

so.. Mig Mk2 will be started in november

i now have all the parts for it as well..

This is an interesting project. When I first heard of the Jag-stang, that was what I imagined it would look like in my head, only to find it was the reverse, and really, really ugly.

That thar looks sweet.

well your first attempt was a lot better balanced than the real jag-stang so you can feel good about that.

so i got my sketch/body trace done today
as well as cut, plained and glued the body for the wood.

again it will be a pine body.. very soft wood to work with, but smells so nice when you are cutting it.

didn't take any photos (well i took one with the iPhone but its just of wood sitting there waiting to be glued together..)

so yea...
cool story eh?

I'm really digging this. I've been wandering around my basement this morning thinking I really want to try doing some of this shit myself. I ordered some router bits for my Dremel and I want to take a stab at replicating my old Decca so I can make it shortscale. It's already missing a fretboard, so I have to make a new fretboard, can just make it 24" scale and reposition the bridge with a new body.

I'm inspired, dude. Keep going.

thank you for the kind words my friend

i do the work on it when i'm visiting my folks as my dad has a shop that i can work in..
one thing i will reccomend is that you pick up a plunge router (about $100 at home depot) instead of using a dremel with attachments..
i tried doing the mk I body with a dremel and some otehr inspired routing techniques.. they work.. but not efficiently, or in a way that looks good at all..

that is part of the reason for mk II

the other being that lower horn has just never sat well with me.
i took the mk I body out of the classifieds, as i may find a use for it.. or just use it as fire wood.

Well, I have the plunge router attachment for my dremel, I'm gonna give it a go playing with that before I go all in with buying a full out router. My first attempts are gonna be some plywood planks glued together.

good call..

i didn't get much done on this today

i mostly just looked at it all clamped together, and thought about what i have for parts already..

BT Jazzmaster pickup in the neck
WRHB in the bridge
3way toggle
Strange/or phase switch?

500K volume & tone pots

Jag/Jazzy Trem

and i have a huge piece of mint pickguard material
i think i'd like to shape the guard similar to a bronco (like in the most recent concept)
