Jaguar Strangle switch

Jaguar Strangle switch
I have a CIJ Jaguar and have never found a use for the strangle switch until today. While messing around through an acoustic guitar emulator on a Vox Tonelab I switched to the bridge pickup with the strangle switch - instant banjo!
BTW this forum is great and has helped loads in getting my Jag and Mustang set up.
Thanks GUys

I haven't tried that and I have a MBM Fuzzface and ECT. What does it sound like?hotrodperlmutter wrote:then i'm guessing you've never heard it on through a fuzz face or eau claire thunder?Pens wrote:That's probably the only legit use I've ever heard for that switch.
because i'm pretty sure that's why that switch was invented.
I am in the process of restoring the Strangle switch and adding a phase switch on the Haze Jaguar SH.

How about you post clips of how this sounds? Putting that stupid switch back into place for a single one-trick option that I can just as easily put into any standard stompbox is too much work.hotrodperlmutter wrote:it sounds AMAZINGONGING
DEW IT
Better yet, why doesn't Aen just put a switchable strangle into this pedal?

There are a lot of uses for the strangle switch.
Personally, I always play on an overdrive channel with very light overdrive, using a boost to get saturated tones. In this setup, a strangle switch causes just the right frequencies to drop out and just enough volume drop that you get sparkling jangle cleans under light overdrive, especially with both pickups on.
I always switch the second tone knob on Strats to a strangle pot, dial in just the right amount of strangle.

i use the strangle switch more than i thought i would and mostly when the neck pickup is involved. the tone when it's just the bridge is super thin and quiet, but when both pickups are on, it can be a nice weapon in the arsenal. in fact, i enjoy employing it most for recording, and it's a testament to the jag's versatility. i can easily get 4 or 5 distinct tones without having to switch guitars. . . brilliant time saver.
