Shortscale Squier 51

Basic idea:
Image

I love the desert/black combo, but it isn't set in stone yet. Tele bridge, obviously, and Tele neck pickup.

Also, one of these:

MIM Duo neck.

Cooterfinger is making the body. I have everything except the pickups and pickguard. Not sure what I'm going to do about the pickguard.

Electronics: I dunno. Thinking volume/tone/rotary, or volume/tone/output, or volume/volume/tone with a toggle or rotary switch on the pickguard, or volume/tone/output with a toggle or rotary switch on the pickguard.

So, yeah. Cooterfinger is waiting to get the wood delivered. I'm going to paint/assemble it over winter break (Dec 9 - Jan 4).

Just checked their website and the wood was shipped. Expected delivery date 11-7-11.

Pickguard is not a problem. If you want to make your own pickguard I can draw you out a template once I get the scans from you.
I have the bridge plotted out to scale. Just need the neck heel and control plate.

Do you have a template for a Squier 51 pickguard already, or would you draw one based on the body? I'm having a hell of a time finding a template anywhere.

The Squier 51 Modders forum is stalwartly refusing to help me get one.

No template. Ends says he might have a 51 pickguard I could buy off him to make a template from. I need to check back with him and see if he found it.

Guitars like that make me second-guess my boring-ass desert+black combo.

Didn't see this post. If hotrod can't find his pickguard, could you make me a tracing of yours?

Turns out the Squier 51 modders just needed to be asked twice/thrice for things to get moving. Hooray!
