It's sad, but it's true. I'd take the bound one in the middle right now - DO YOU HEAR ME FMC? RIGHT NOW!! But alas, you no can haz in the USA.
IMHO, if Fender was smart, they'd recognize that there is a demand for those models in the USA and Europe, and if they're not willing to import them directly, they should find a way to license their export from dealers in Japan. That way, everyone wins. Most people would probably still rather buy from a local dealer or a mail order place in their own country (for the warranty if nothing else), so it's not likely to eat into domestic sales all that much. Fender dealers in Japan could get a few extra sales, Fender Japan gets to strut their stuff a bit, and people in Europe and the Americas can get the guitars they want, and that our friends in Asia already have access to, and FMC gets to put a few extra licensing bux in their pockets.
It makes too much sense, so I doubt it will ever happen. Sucks, doesn't it?
