Nice. Congrats man. They're getting harder to find as time goes by. They're such odd guitars. If you didn't know they were actually built by Fender, you'd probably just think someone massacred a Musicmaster II.
This one is a little beat-up so It was cheaper than all the others I have seen for sale recently. Interesting color too: Candy Apple Red over (Shoreline?)Gold).

Very nice guitar!! I have a LPB swinger currently. the base coat is probably metallic silver.

Thanks! Do you have a photo of yours? I would love to see it.
My Jag and Coronado have gold undercoats (both CAR, obviously). Dated oct '66 and jan '67 respectively, so quite close together. Perhaps they used different undercoats in different periods?

I read an article or something on the gold/silver debate not too long ago but can't find it; from what I remember, different eras had different under coats but it changed back and forth a couple of times and it was uncommon to find undercoats that didn't match the 'norm'. I'm guessing they would run out of one color on the line and just switch to the other if need be, but everything I say is nothing more than speculation.
