Nice. Congrats man. They're getting harder to find as time goes by. They're such odd guitars. If you didn't know they were actually built by Fender, you'd probably just think someone massacred a Musicmaster II.

I've owned a few with silver underneath, apparently fender used both base colors for CAR.

My Jag and Coronado have gold undercoats (both CAR, obviously). Dated oct '66 and jan '67 respectively, so quite close together. Perhaps they used different undercoats in different periods?

I think this one's one of the competition blue Swingers, which used the same blue as the Competition Mustangs, minus the stripe.

I don't have anything CAR I just felt like chiming in to say:

Stewart, you are a dick and I hate you.

Not really just FACK CAR CORO's and Jag's are so fucking hot.

I read an article or something on the gold/silver debate not too long ago but can't find it; from what I remember, different eras had different under coats but it changed back and forth a couple of times and it was uncommon to find undercoats that didn't match the 'norm'. I'm guessing they would run out of one color on the line and just switch to the other if need be, but everything I say is nothing more than speculation.
