Octeoblasts- Modern Animals FREE DOWNLOAD
Hey all, mentioned it on here but my band, The Octeoblasts, just cut a new album/demo with broke whore records. It's a bit rough, but doesn't sound too bad through a stereo or headphones. A bit shite on computer speakers though. I'd say it's a bit sloppier then I'd of liked it to of been, and it was a bit rushed since our bassist was late for the session and we were a bit impatient with the takes, probably would've been alot cleaner if we'd of taken our time but hey. It was basically recorded live in my attic with our cheap shitty equipment, so it's not gonna sound like some nice polished production. But nonetheless, enjoy.
One review from the blog JangleDrop(Translated from spanish):
The Octeoblasts: Modern animals (2011)
"As rightly pray in their Bandcamp, where they offer their music in a disinterested way, The Octeoblasts are a group of Noise-Pop-protopunk since then have recorded his songs in a few, very few shots. The result can be dramatic for some and even irritating to others. Enjoy it."

Thanks stew!
Still quite shocked anyone likes it, not used to people enjoying the noise i'm making. haha
In case anyone's wondering about how it was recorded and whatnot (wish i'd of taken pictures of the session), it was done with a good ol' four track tape recorder thingy. The dude recording it wasn't into digitally recording it, or doing overdubs, etc. Bass and Vox were DI'd straight into the thingy. Guitar amp and the kick drum was mic'd up, ambient mics for everything else. All done in my cozy little attic that reeks of incense and reefer.

Yeah, now that I'm at home, I'm digging this, my only wish was that the drums were properly mic'd and the bass was higher. Really love this, though. Lemme know if y'all ever wanna tour to StL, I'd do a show with you. I could handle booking as well.

wow, thanks so much man! appreciate it tons. wonder if he'll write about it or something.
and thanks pens. I wish the bass and drums could've been louder as well, the kit's my old fucked up heit drum set from like.. the 60's. needs a good bit of tlc. the bass head's held together with a shoebox and duct tape. had the mic all the way in it and still didn't pick up too well.
oh, and a show would be awesome! same goes for if you come to Pittsburgh.

finally got around to listening to it this afternoon at work. great stuff, plenty of desk drumming, arms aloft and trying to sing along even though I don't know the words while bouncing in my chair
