Ah, isn't it cool and hipster-esque to throw out all of claptons hard work post Cream? While i admit that his early work was amazing, his later work and particularly his skill at writing pop songs are what supplied him with longevity which is rare in the business these days.A_saVANT wrote:Fixed. Hard work doesn't necessarily make for good music. Clapton post-Cream is really a matter of taste. That is, if you like middle of the road dad rock before your time, then by all means slather praise all over it. If you don't then please continue to knock seven bells out of it for exactly what it is. I'd rather listen to Bon Jovi than yet another mopey rendition of Tears in Heaven. And I hate Bon Jovi.
The reason Clapton stirs up such ill-feeling is that he could have gone from making genuinely exciting rock music to the sort of shit pumped out by Bryan Adams, music for people that don't really like music. See also: Paul Weller.

A subjective matter of taste, is really what this argument is about. I think "In my father's eyes" is a great song. I've heard far too many times that an artists early work is better than their latter work, simply because because of a change of styles or a new approach to song writing. The price point of the amp however, is something i can't really argue about.
