Looks like you can cut/sand that little point on the headstock and make it into a fendery shape if you're ocd about headstocks.

Looks like a pretty good value for an instrument, just wish the necks were finished like a Squier CV

That's the one I'd get as well. Though it's on the vanilla custard side of the spectrum, add a black or anodized gold guard and you're good to go.

I don't think any of them are a bad buy per say, but I still think it's hard to top a Squier CV for overall value for around $300. They also hold their resale value better than the other two, and you can swap parts with a fender without worry.

even with the gash headstocks they have now? i'm glad they do shortscales in classic designs, but cannot. get. over. the. headstock.

these are pretty nice looking, but yeah, the Classic Vibe stuff is just dead on. these just look like copies.

I like when SX had those basses with the ridiculously big take on the 70's style headstock. It looked like something from CBS's reject bin, which is saying something.

I've only ever played or seen a couple sx guitars and basses in person before. But every one that I've had the chance to pick up and play for a bit has been ridiculously heavy and not felt like it was very good quality. I definitely wouldn't go anywhere near putting it in the same category as the squier CV's. Squier CV is a budget line that plays, feels and sounds like a professional, expensive instrument. Nothing below $400 compares to them IMO.

I completely agree. The squier CV's have always felt on par with the higher model fenders to me. The CV p basses came out right after I bought my MIA fender p bass, and I remember playing them for the first time and thinking that if they had been out I would have probably bought one of those instead of the fender!

back to six strings for a sec... i did a side-by-side/playing comparison of the AVRI '62 tele and a CV 60's custom tele at CME, and the squire won out overall. we're talking $1000 difference in price. the AVRI had nicer grain, but who gives a fuck about that when you consider the differential.

CV anything for the win, really.
