I think they look like arse and are a bit of a "because we can" innovation. Would like to try them though. Just trying to think what guitars would actually look good with these...

Metal frets and a metal string create a natural distortion due to metal on metal contact. There are other materials that can be used in place of metal frets. Other patents with inferior materials have come and gone over the years, like ceramics and glass. These other man-made materials also produce clear tone and longer sustain. But when 100% pure quartz crystals are used, the need for replacement frets comes to an end. Metal can never wear down the frets; only diamonds can cut and polish these stones.
With quartz crystal frets, you get clear tone and extended sustain, because the density of the quartz keeps the string’s vibrational energy from going through or around the fret, where that energy would be lost. The string follows the the same molecular structure as the quartz, a single helix pattern that makes the string fully tunable, only in RPS. This not only boosts the sustain, it produces a warmer, fuller, more powerful sound, that makes a stock metal fret guitar sound flat.
Science mumbo-jumbo alert! That's a lot of bullshit buzzwording, and not a lick of actual content. I take that back, quartz will wear more slowly than metal frets, granted it doesn't straight up crack/break.

I really like his line though. I also do like stainless steel frets on the Parker guitars I've tried. I seem to remember you hate The Parker Fly, but I think it's a cool guitar. I will own one eventually.
I think alot of the nickel frets coming on import guitars are junky. I guess it depends on the brand but I had some bad experiences with Korean made guitars where the frets just pitted awfully after about a year, I never seen anything like that. I guess it all depends on who's ordering the guitar from those factories and if they skimp on good fret wire because I've also played Korean and Chinese guitars that were better. The nickel alloys are much better now than they were back in the day, they're more precise. There are also companies doing fretwire besides Dunlop. Jescar is one that gets a lot of good reviews from guitar makers.

+1million. There's some degree of trying to sound good and in tune, but there's far too many guitarists who concern themselves needlessly over stupid tone shit like this. Most of these people also cannot play all that well other than some stock standard rock blues scales that are completely lifeless. Just play the fucking thing and have fun. Shit like this just sucks the passion out of rock n roll.
On that note, the stock Jaguar bridge sucks balls, and I know Fran disagrees. I can't deal with a piece of shit that is constantly going out of tune because the string hops a saddle when I'm rocking the fuck out.

I don't follow how lubing the strings will prevent the string from jumping groove and off the saddle laterally. I only see it making it worse, in fact. The trem is locked and I never use that, this is more about the strings coming off the saddles.

That is never gonna happen. I'm putting on a goddamn show, and me flailing about is 90% of it. I gotta distract from the fact that I can barely play. The bridge shouldn't suck so much and deal with it. Don't have that problem with other types of bridges. The Jag threaded saddles just suck baws.
