just ordered one...the blue. I had a 20% off coupon...so it came to 146. I'm definitely changing the trem and maybe swapping necks with an older cyclone neck, if it fits. Won't ship til 12/16... I'll post pics when it comes. That gives me more time to think about how I'm going to mod this mofo

The originals Cyclones had a 24.75" scale neck.

Also, would totally get one of these if I thought it were even remotely viable to install a Mustang trem, but with one project already languishing in development hell I don't exactly relish the thought of having to buy a new guitar, strip it back, fill the strat trem cavity with copious amounts of scrap wood and filler and then route the trem bits out. Wait, yes I do.

Question is, do I want one of these or the new Mascis Squier? Well, obviously I want both. Fuck you, Squier. Fuck you completely.

See, the reason I get such a bonar for these is that they have a Strat trem. I love that. Strat trems deserve more love round here, they're brill. (Not disagreeing with your point btw, do the mustang trem thing, that would be awesome).

How much do you reckon it would cost in the UK to buy them both?

I think the Mascis Jazzy is about Â£330 in some places, so around Â£500 probs. That depends on whether or not the Cyclone comes in under Â£170, which is a real possibility. Then again, I'd probably rather have the Squier Duo and the Mascis Jazzy as a lovely matching pair. But the Duo seems to be retaining its original price tag.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Strat trem. Proper fulcrum versions, like the one on my Batwing, are easily the best trems out there without a shadow of a doubt. On a properly set up guitar you can do pretty extreme divebombs and all that bullshit without everything going hideously wonky. But strat trems just don't look right on a Mustang body at all. I wouldn't mind if it was a hardtail strat bridge, or even a TOM setup.

If these Cyclones come to the UK under Â£150 i think i'll have to have one. Black with a black guard mod i think.

If the distance between treble post of the bridge to the treble corner of the neck pocket is 6.5" than you can put a 24" neck on it no problem. I'm almost positive thats the measurement for a cyclone, but can anyone confirm this?

I don't give a fuck about the neck, I've never actually had a duff Squier. My Tele Custom II had one of the best necks I'd ever played so it's not something that bothers me. I guess some people just NEED to change a neck to make it feel like they properly own a guitar. Personally I find a quick wank into the space under the pickguard does wonders.

First I've seen of this thread. Will be interested to see how much they sell for in the UK although I don't like three things about them:

1. The body shape doesn't look quite right - a little "podgy" maybe?
2. The blue and red are gash
3. Neck tint could be too bright

I'd certainly take a piece of that sunburst though, an overlooked finish in the 'Stang department.
