I got myself an Agile AL-3200, which I really like.

It was pretty much a steal at $399, which is like the normal price for an AL-3100, and the 3200 is like a 3100 + neck-through construction. Just look at that pretty neck.

Check it, I even made a video.

Mahogany body and neck, 22 frets, ebony fretboard, neck-through construction, dual AlNiCo 5 humbucker pickups with LP style wiring, Grover tuners, Graphtech bridge and nut, Made in Korea. Specs are incredible, guitar is superb.

i ear a lot of good things about agile guitars, not sure if they are available over here in the UK. They seem to get the same praise as the Peerless guitars from Korea

They ship internationally, but obviously it's not quite so cost effective to do so...

Nonetheless, for a 3000-series Agile, you're looking at guitars with such good specs that nothing needs much work at all, and all the parts are very good quality. The Graphtech bridge and nut are the self-lubricating Tusq XL, and the tuners are Grover Rotomatics (best non-locking tuners in the world according to me). The pots are full-sized Alpha pots and the switch is the premium springy sealed type that I love. The wires are the vintage-style cloth wires, and even the pickups are excellent quality, certainly as good as any stock humbuckers as I've ever played.

The bodies and necks are mahogany, the frets are hand-dressed, the fretboards are beautiful ebony. There's nothing generic brand about any of it, with such good quality (and in many cases, brand name) hardware and electronics. That said, if you're buying a 2000-series Agile, it does start cutting a few corners and will probably feel more generic, so if you're in the market for this stuff, might as well save up for the best you can find. You can find 3000-series Agiles starting at $299, which is a mind-bogglingly excellent price for a guitar with such good specs.

No. Just pure white. However the neck through stripes in the back have a slight blue tint.

My friend has an agile les paul too. After comparing it with my gibson i think the quality is surprisingly good. I'd still rather save up for a Gibson though.

A MIJ Tokai Les Paul is by far a much better investment. And a hell of a lot cheaper.

Better value perhaps, better investment no. A real Gibson will probably always be worth more than a copy of one.

I'd have to spend north of $2500 to get anything that rivals the Agile in terms of specs. I do like a lot of Gibsons (or why would I even want an Agile in the first place?) but if I were spending $850 to get a Tribute or whatever, I'd be making a few trade-offs as to what I really want, but with Agile, you get to spend $399 and you have everything you ever wanted in a guitar, except maybe the name on the headstock. It doesn't mean I'll never buy a Gibson or anything like that, it just means I know what I want in a guitar and getting that with the Gibson name on the headstock is just not so economical. I feel like so much of what you get with a Les Paul is a feeling of luxury anyway.

I really just don't find Tributes or Faded or Studios to be impressive at all, when they just aren't remarkable or luxurious at all, really. If it's about getting "the sound" at a lower budget, and I'm sacrificing cosmetics, it's hard to justify even spending $850 on a guitar that's not cosmetically there just for that Gibson name when I can have a more visually impressive guitar with better specs that enhance sound and playability at half the price. Were I to get a Les Paul, I'd want one with all the nice things, and I'd have to pay for it, and I'm OK with that.

MIJ Gibson copies aren't available in the U.S., besides ebay.
While living in Japan i bought a Les Paul Custom and later sold it for a PRS. I miss that guitar so much!!

When i get back to the states the first thing i'm going to buy is a white LPC after i sell my JEM. Although i can't say for sure, i don't think i would miss a copy this much!

This thread is making me miss my LP Studio....it was a pretty nice solid guitar that I probably would've gotten along better with had I swapped in some lower output pickups.

Those were the 498t right? Oddly enough, i had them in my LPC and replaced them with higher output pups.
