Pickguards that don't cost an arm and a leg?
I'd like to get a new pickguard for my 20th Anniversary Jagmaster (Strat scale) but they go for like $75 from Jeannie and the guy that runs it is a tool and won't cut me a square corner HB route without even more money, so yeah, where can I get some made that won't completely suck me dry? I can send in my current guard for fitting.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Shit. I ordered a Jag guard from them and it didn't fit - no refund.honeyiscool wrote:Yeah I had this concern. Don't buy a pickguard from Jeannie.
Seriously.
I "special ordered" a pickguard for my Ibanez Blazer. I just wanted the HH setup that they already made only in mint with a third humbucker route in the middle. Charged me something like $63 shipped, but at the time I had the cash and wanted what I wanted. 3 weeks after placing the order I hadn't heard anything, so I emailed him just for a "hey, no rush, just checking the status on my pickguard." Few days later he replied (and I'm paraphrasing) "It's taking longer than expected due to the middle humbucker you wanted...we really had to eat the labor on this one so no bitching if it isn't perfect".
This is what they gave me:

Yes there is a major gap and yes it is way more noticeable in person. There is hardly any plastic on the other side of the pickup screw on that side.

Robroe also had a bad experience with Pickguardian, although I don't remember the nature of it.

I'd be happy to make a pickguard or body for any shortscaler. I'm just taking a break from it through the holidays so I can enjoyhoneyiscool wrote:Yeah I had this concern. spending time with the family.
I should be ready to get back at it some time after the first of the year. I've already got a few things promised and I just
work on this stuff in my spare time so the downside is I'm not able to offer a fast turnaround rate. The upside is I'm
not an asshole and I won't charge you stupid money. Plus I can do a middle pickup without charging time and a half.

Thank you very much for your offer. That sounds super promising. I am actually not broke or anything and I don't mind paying someone who's friendly and honest about this stuff, so feel free to charge me whatever you think is fair. It's just that I don't want to pay $70 for something unless it's going to be perfect, but if it is, I wouldn't even care about being down $70.cooterfinger wrote:I'd be happy to make a pickguard or body for any shortscaler.
