Squier Jaguar (the current modifiers platform)

Post by serfx »

so.. as you may recall i picked up a squire jag a bit ago..

it looks looked like this:
Image

i am not a fan of:
strat jacks
stacked pots
that bridge
strat fucking jacks

so...
we've all seen how they are routed.. but here is a shot just in case you've missed it
Image

i opted to put a Mustang vibrato on it...
(and took no pictures of my shite routing job!

Image

see i was thinking of putting a single jag pup in the neck and a WRHB in the bridge.. but i'm no good at cutting pickguards.. (seriously, no good.. other wise this would have a mint guard.. as i have a blank mint piece of guard material)
and instead opted to put a generic PAF in the bridge, and the bridge pup from the BT jazzmaster in the neck (it is rated slightly less hot then the PAF)

3-way toggle and a reverse phase switch (on the bridge only)
Image
Image

no upper controls.. i may put a distortion or something in there later... right now.. it is just empty..

currently mostly wired up though i have no tone knob ATM, so the volume isn't headed off to the output either..
trying to decide if i want to put a DPDT with a tone cut instead of a tone knob...

Image

as for the pot for a knob to fit, i'll need to do a bit more routing on the guitar itself.

once this is all done, then just fill in the strat jack hole...
and find a sticker. or something to go over it..

Image

the Tune-O-Matic it has for a bridge now, was OG on the CP Jag HH.. so.. at least i know it's 9.5 radius.. and it lined up without needing to be redrilled! (and still measures out okay for intonation etc... though now i feel like i really need to double check that...

MUSGUAR!

Good fun, Jim. Shame about the Strat jack route permanently being there, though a jack plate-shaped piece of pickguard would be cool for housing a kill switch/button or something.

i was thinking of cutting a block to fit and glue in, but i have no way of matching the colour right and proper .. either way, i think it will be getting the block and glue treatment.. and then a sticker, or i may possibly sketch something out to airbrush on...
i haven't quite decided yet...

I normally hate the Mustang trem, but that looks fucking perfect on that guitar. Nice job, man. Ya ought to block that strat jack then do a complete refin, we all know you're capable of it.

Respray it fiesta red then. In order to get it to match, you'd still have to pretty much remove a big chunk of the existing paint, might as well take it all off and redo the whole thing in that color. Except for the edges, man, fuck painting edges. The edges are why my Musicmaster project is held up right now.

I used them for my tele build and refinishing my Mustang neck. Good products.

imo yr idea for a sketch would be the easiest method, maybe something like the one on that acoustic you've shown.
