Not everything from the old days they've done away with "didn't work," they just decided to make their specs a bit more Gibson-like in the widdy-widdy era. We're past that now, and the old guitars play fine. I don't want flat fingerboards and big frets on a Fender, because they make them feel boring to me. A Fender's identity is in it's neck.

The neck, that's fine. The Bronco trem, for example, wasn't the finest in design. They figured out things that worked better. Let's use those things instead. Use the old neck spec, that's fine, but the whole "no rhythm circuit - not a Jag!" thing is kinda dumb. Any guitar that is shaped like a Jazzy but with a 24" scale neck is a Jaguar. Getting rid of the bad things about them doesn't ruin the guitar.

Now, I do agree that there is never any excuse for a strat jack. That's just plain dumb.

"If you were poor would you eat a radish?" I asked my sister that when I was little. She burst out laughing and my family tormented with it for years. I'm 49 now and am still getting over it. I have two reasons to hate radishes.

do you own a bronco? no? just repeating what you have read from some dumbshit guy in a book? yes?

the bridge works perfect on mine. i don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

PRO TIP: you can change strings on a bronco faster than any other bridge unit ever made, it stays in tune, and you can lock it down simply with the screw if thats what you want to do

what i have actually heard is putting together the bridge is a bit tricky, mainly because not a lot of documentation on it exists. but most people i've known with a bronco say they think it's one of the best trems out there and super stable.

I am always keeping my eyes open for Bronco trems or Bronco projects because the trems are nearly impossible to find because no one parts them out. I have the base plate and spring for it but thats it.

I would love to get one so I could complete the triology with my Musicmaster and my Mustang.

Nope, never owned one. Most people have never owned one because Fender didn't make or sell that many of them. They also figured out other and more cost effective ways to make a tremolo bridge.

If the design was superiour, the free market dictates that we'd have seen them being used on other guitars. Or at least a 3rd party would have recreated it.

I've also heard that the Jaguar bridge is awesome. That's also bullshit from my viewpoint. So, just cuz this guy rob on the internet says it's so fucking rad isn't going to make me believe it.

So yeah, it wasn't the finest in design.

Remove the strat jack, move the switches and do a proper Competition Stripe and it will be alright.

Personally I don't see a thing wrong with humbucker routing. You can get Lace Dually that are two single coils mashed in one, you can get humbucker sized P90s that give you fat single coil sounds, you can get other full sized single coils from many manufacturers, and if you really don't care for it, get a new pickguard and install single coils in it. I love swimming pool and HH routes. It's great for a modder, much more comfy than the rather narrow confines I'm usually working with in a Mustang body.

The switches are actually in the right spot for once. The #1 dumbest thing about the stock Mustang is the position of those switches. Putting them below the strings makes soooooooo much more sense.

Get rid of the strat jack and that's a nice guitar.
