Definitely rekindled my GAS for a 4000-series. One of my dream basses right there.

Ah, they smell great. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my 330

Yeah if you notice Fender borrowed(stole) a lot of ideas from Rickenbacker.

The things that distinguish Rickenbacker are largely still pretty unique to them.

Rickenbackers feel very different than other guitars...compared to my Hagstrom Viking and Ovation Tornado I've always felt that my 330 was more rigid and less resonant and "alive". Not that it doesn't play good or sound good, just the feel of it is more solid. Seeing the bizarre way they scoop out the inside first and then cut the body afterwards, that might have something to do with it. Or else it's just the design with the strings so high over the body.

I wish they had made a video of their production back in the late fifties. I have a guitar made during that time and it is so well made. I think the new ones are probably more precise guitar to guitar than back then. The brown strip through the middle of the neck on my guitar looks like it is walnut, where here he says it is now redified maple. My guitar is about 53 years old and the neck has never been adjusted. It is straight as can be. Thanks West Texas Red for the tour.
