Opinions on the Boss RC-2 loop station

Thinking of getting one for fitty bucks.
But i'm worried about whether it will be useful in live situations.

I like it a lot. For live you do really need an external tap tempo switch IMO.
Does everything I could ever think I would need a looper for.

Oh yes, this is what I'm looking at most closely for a real sampling looper. At present I'm using a Headrush, which uses its delay time for looping... the Boss's increased loop time and the fact that my first loop will not set the start/stop in stone is what interests me the most about them.

I've heard by all accounts it's the same thing as the RC-20 but without the second footswitch, but that you can hook an extra footswitch to it to achieve full whack, so it's the only Boss looper that really interests me. After hearing the Digitech Jamman is susceptible to major fuck-uppery, the RC-2 has been next on my list.

$50 sounds like a major steal if it works properly, dude. I've been casually keeping an eye on eBay auctions and if I could get one for $50 it would be a "buy now think later" situation.

As for "useful in live situations", if you know how to use a looper it's hugely useful in a live situation... if you don't you'll embarrass yourself or bore the audience to tears. Same as with any other piece of gear, really.

I'd definitely make sure i knew what i was doing before playing live with it.
I sent him an email already, so hopefully it's still available.
The $50 price seemed great which is why i sent the email even before making this thread.
he's selling all his pedals at 50 each. The others are: metalzone, bluesdriver, boss compression sustainer, boss equalizer, noise suppressor, crybaby wah pedal

I'd like to get the eq and crybaby as well (though i'd get this other dude's crybaby as it's 40 bucks), but can only justify buying one at this time

anyhoo, wish me luck!

Oh, one of the issues I noticed was a volume drop once the loop is set. is that just me or just something that sounds wierd on a youtube video?

You can set the volume of the instrument at any time. There is high and low tear knob furthest to the left. One for instrument and the other for the in built drums.

I think the RC2 is great for home / studio.... to generate song ideas. If you were to use it live, as Tom suggests, I would recommend the external foot switch... mainly for tap tempo, switching loops and for one tap stopness.

Behringer AB200. It's the clone of the Boss FS-6 (or 5? dunno) except I think it might be a bit more versatile so it could be useful for something else down the line.

i think for the footswitch you need just a single momentary switch.

i got one like this for like $5 on ebay:

but i'm sure haze could make you one/you could make one for the same price and customizse

Yep single momentary will do the tap tempo and single tap stop. Double momentary will allow you to switch loops as well.

i have the RC-20XL, so i got that momentary for tap tempo/reverse.
