Rookie modder seeks advice on Jagmaster

Post by SurfGreenGibby »

Hey, short time reader, first time poster. Yay!

I need some advice. I've been working on this black Jagmaster for a bit now. It's my first mod so I've been cautious; only changed the stock bridge pickup for a Lace Alumitone humbucker.

All I need is something cool to put in the neck position before I finish this sucker by getting somebody to paint something behind the bridge.

The stock pickup is way too muddy, especially since I'm between main amps now and relying on an Orange Crush practice amp and a Pignose, neither of which can be noted for their clarity and note definition.

I'm looking for something warm, that distorts well but retains good note definition, and that isn't too hot; I'd like to keep a nice contrast to the Alumitone (I don't plan on using both pickups together, anyways).

Thanks! I'll post a picture once my uploader account is approved.

Notice the crummy filing job on the pickguard to fit the Alumitone.

when you set up 2 humbucker guitars with SD pickups the norm is a JB in the back and a Jazz in the front.

now SD is making these Jazz's with spit, puke and blood all in them for more warmth

they look like complete shit, but i bet they sound fucking rad

I am a fan of one pickup RAWK machines, but I absolutely love the GFS Mean 90 neck pickup. It's super warm and has great note def. Cheap too.

Welcome.

Yes, I was thinking of just making it a "plug it in and bash it" one pickup deal, but this is probably the last guitar I'm going to buy for awhile (need that good amp) and it needs to do a lot of stuff, rhythm and lead and etc.

I was going to go with a Lace Blue-Gold Dually, but this GF Mean P90 looks like it might fit the bill, at the right price. Definitely moved up the list.

Thanks for the welcome!
