Price Check on aisle 1996 Fender Duo

Post by Ankhanu »

Tossing out the ol' "is this a good price" line here... is $290 a decent price for a 1996 Fender Duo-Sonic that looks to be in good condition?

I always check ebay "completed items" to get an idea of what guitars go for. I knock 10% - 20% off of whatever ebay average prices are for "local sales".

This one is at my friend store (Link) I think it is $150.
It's a '93 and I think it is in near mint condition. Give them a call if you are interested 763-525-0311

$290 isn't even close to a good price. It's a $150 guitar tops, $125 preferably. Bought mine for 90.

I got one for 100. it was a really fun guitar. I threw a old strat neck and eventually sold it, but they're cool guitars.

not 260 cool, though.

Arent those Duos actually a shorter scale length than the seller is claiming, though? Like 20" or something? At least a good bit shorter than the Squier Classic Vibe Duo...?

22.5" scale, just like the original Duos. Be warned, not an easy guitar for everyone to play. I can't get along with them.

Thanks a lot.

I'm mainly looking for a guitar for my daughter to learn on that I'd also be interested in playing if she decides that she isn't interested in guitar. Though she's 9, she's really quite small, so I think something 22.5 or 22.7 is the way to go. I'm just starting in on seeing what's available at what prices.

I won't nab this one ;)

WTR: thanks for the link. I'll contact them, see what their shipping rates are to Canada... if they even ship here.

That was my first thought, yeah; they were sold out at the music store when I popped in on Tuesday. Then I started poking around a bit for other 22.5s that might be available and more interesting than a Strat, as pretty much anything I knew about was vintage and way too expensive for me. The 90s Duos seemed like a decent route to follow, and likely would need less upgrading work than a Squier Mini to make a good player for me too (and something she'd be more likely to keep playing).

Chances are a new Mini is likely the best way to go, due to availability. We don't get much in the way of interesting instruments up this way, and certainly not in the lower end of the price range.

Fuck buying any duo sonic rather than a squier classic vibe. i had a '93, classic vibe shits all over that bitch.

i would have a hard time justifying much more than $100 unless i REALLLYYY needed it.
