The Space Echo has been absolutely indispensable for me. I don't see a lot of love for it in a lot of places online, as most people seem hung up on comparing it to the original instead of appreciating how great it really is. I've used it on just about everything for recording (vocals, guitars, synths, and drums) and I consider it the one piece in my arsenal that I absolutely cannot live without.

I stupidly sold my original long ago, but I also recently reacquired a brand new big-box EHX DMM that was on clearance; it has now taken the place of the Memory Toy on my board as the delay I run my Moog Little Phatty through. The Memory Toy is pretty great too, and I have the internal modulation depth pot turned up higher than "normal" to give it more drastic modulation deviation when the MOD switch is up.

To be brutally honest, its all most people will ever need from a Delay and its difficult to dial in a bad setting on one. Akai Headrush - tap tempo in reg delay mode, 4 outputs in echo mode and the ability to "mis-align" the "heads", high frequency dampening control to simulate lo-fi analogue repeats in both reg delay and tape echo modes. And looping.

I also have a Behringer dd400 and Ibanez DML10, as well as one of those Behringer Vintage Time Machines. They all see use fairly equally but the Headrush is always on my board.

agree. If you want normal delay there's nothing better then a dd3, or memory toy for analogic. Some great answers, and I think I might do a similar thread for other type effects. I think I've tried most of the effects mentioned and my favourite has been the SMMwH I loved the variations in delay and the looper and presets.

I have used a Boss DD3, Boss DD7, MXR Carbon Copy and EHX Memory Toy, and I've loved them all for different reasons. The DD3 and DD7 are actually surprisingly different; the DD3 stops abruptly when disengaged whereas the DD7 trails off, both of which are useful for different applications, unfortunately the loop function on the DD7 is infinitely better than that of the DD3, which is pretty much unusable. I suppose on some level I'm loyal to the DD3 because it's the only one I actually own. One day I shall also own a DD7 and an analogue delay of some sort, I think the Carbon Copy appeals to me the most.
I'm pretty certain that one day my pedalboard will consist of about 100 pedals, almost all of which will be various different distortions and delays. I don't find myself using much else, and I doubt I'll ever satisfy my lust for new and interesting flavours.

I've got a carbon copy, an Ibanez DL10 (quite characterful for a digital unit) and DE7 (don't like it) and this, which is my favourite....

The carbon copy is good for warm repeats but it doesn't match the echoey smudginess of the the HH. Will probably trade in the CC for an old Memory Man sometime soon.

I really like my EHX Memory Toy, as it gives a nice little boost when its engaged, which i find useful. Its not the most extravagant delay, but I don't think I need one full of features, although I am looking into trying some more exotic delays.
I have the knobs taped together to prevent them from moving, so I just have one delay sound.

However I'm hugely partial to my Echo Base, which is also superb (SPAM OVER). I build a DirtBag Deluxe Analogue Delay with Modulation madbeanpedals.com project recently I'm about to box up which I'm very happy with - definitely 80% of the way to a real DMM.
I was pretty much the same until I ran out of pedalboard space. This + the PS-3. I like that they both multi-task, unlike the DD-3.othomas2 wrote:RV3... It does a lot pretty well. Sounds proper 80s which I love, and not dark like analogue delays which is bonus for most of the sounds I make.
Don't know if I have a favourite as such....but my MUZA FD90M is a belter of a compact pedal for the money: digi, analogue-alike, modulating, reverse delays and reverbs plus it's a looper AND it came with a PSU.
