Interesting Chopped Mustang on CL

Post by taylornutt »

Apparently someone altered/chopped a 1964 Mustang. Kinda has the Squier Super-sonic vibe to it. Sad and cool at the same time.

I totally agree. While I disagree with chopping a vintage mustang, it was done well and the body shape is kinda cool.

Did you see how the fretboard looked burned in a couple of spots?

I like it too. Kinda jaguar-ish.

I remember when this sold on offset. I have mixed feelings about it. I can't help but imagine how much better it would look in that finish when it was non castrated.

yep i remember this one from the OSG sale a couple years ago. i think it's pretty cool, not unlike a super-sonic.

not $800 hot, but VERY hot and tasty.

I'd buy it for $350-400 in a second, but not what he's asking.

I'd probably pay $600. That neck is worth $350+ on Ebay, I'm sure.

Took me a sec to figure out what was different :P
I've got to agree that it's really tastefully cut, and does work beautifully with the Mustang body. $800 is too much though.

His selling point is the pre-cbs angle, but once it was cut up and refinished that pretty much voids any extra value that might add.

I'd rock that.

In fact, that is close to what I want to do for my next guitar build. I wanna clone my Supersonic, sort of, but I need to mod the upper horn some to provide more "wall" for the neck since I'll be doing a standard neck heel. I was thinking of doing it more Stang like on the upper horn.

I will try to get you that trace for the Super-sonic this week.

Yeah, maybe it was in a fire and that lower front bout got damaged. Had to amputate... If that's the case, then this is a very cool survivor and the one who done it has my utmost respect.

But may the frettin hand of the one who would defile a vintage guitar be wrapped in a wet towel and thrust into the back of a 100 watt Marshall.
