So well said.

BTW, Dan, there are one or two fellow Mancunians on here. Not sure if you and I have talked about my being formerly.

Still, it's Go United :x !

Manchester Uni?

Post by Doug »

Well, I was pissed at everything, at least in the USA, and needed to get away. One day I just up and applied to three Universities in England...because my Freanch is poor  And was accepted at Manchester.

But the other reason I applied to English Universities is we Yanks who love music were enamored that you had discovered USAmerican roots music and you were turnin us on to it. We sorta thought England must be the place to be.

Anyway, at Manchester...wow...the music scene! Chicken Shack with Christine Perfect just down at the gym. Jethro Tull while they were still a Jazz-Blues-Rock band....long before jazz-rock mind you. Kieth Emerson and Nice, again just down at the gym for a Quid maybe not that much. Joe Cocker, The Grease Band, Faces, Family, The Move, Roy Harper.

Manchester was wonderful and at the time never even knew John Mayall lived there! Became a fan of United, the Charlton brothers and Georgie Best of course.

So I've got wonderful memories and knowledge I'd never have gained if your hometown Uni had not offered me a spot.

Cheers,
Doug
